It is indeed “widely acknowledged” that Phillips has opinions. Lots of them.
It is also true that some or many people agree with her opinions.
Given that many of her opinions fly in the face of lots of evidence, I doubt her powers of reason and logical thought.
So far, I agree with her that Trump was wrong reTweet videos from Britain First and give them publicity. I agree with little else she says.
As stated I have no association with either Jews or Muslims but Melanie Phillips would have those strong views on her Promised Land, no mention of the completely out of proportion massacre of innocent children by the IDF of course.

I dont have to be an economist to budget my house hold finances. I am perfectly capable of understanding that if i have 100 pounds coming in and 120 pounds going out i am 20 pounds short. same as melanie philips she doesnt need to be an economist to understand that.
the person that should be able to understand that is reeves. however she seems incapable of understanding that increasing the outgoings with out increasing the income will result in less money. ie force a child into a state school means the cost for running the state school goes up

Journos do not always need expert knowledge, agreed. They should refer readers to the experts in a particular field. They can play different points of view off against one another. All legit.
Phillips is someone who says that “black is white” and gives clearly biased data and obviously flawed arguments to back her opinion.
She looks at the arguments of some and does not see inherent flaws therein. You do not need to be a medic to see that (not a doctor) Wakefield was a scammer using false arguments to make cash. She couldn’t though.
She is very well spoken and can write well. She however seems incapable of critical thought and following any kind of logic.

in this last academic year the average cost for each pupil in state education was 7,400 so it will cost 37,000 to put them through secondary school roughly. the average price of a private school is 15,324 so over 5 years the amount of vat raised will be exactly that ie 15,324. It will take 2.41 children staying in private education to pay for one child that doesnt just to keep the status quo as far as funding is concirned for the education of the pupil.
however that doesnt cover the extra class room spaces or the need for extra facilities.
My friends wife is a pa to the head at a local girls grammar school. She has spent the last 6 months writing polices and trying to organise the infrastructure for september when they go co-ed to try and accommodate some of the mass exodus from private schools in the local area

Politics of envy and jealousy. They despise people who have ambitions to be successful. Whether that’s sending their kids to private school for a better education or becoming an entrepreneur and starting a business. People like him have this naïve world view that everyone and everything should be equal and that people who become successful should be punished for this very reason.
im sorry but i disagree. its as simple as wanting to control the narrative. state schools are told what to teach and how to teach it. independent schools have free reign on how to teach it and encourage pupils to think for themselves.
change of subject a moment but since we were discussing the manchester airport incident. Untill the real footage came out there were mass protests and people calling for the immediate arrest and imprisonment of the four police officers. even after the truth came out many still thought the police did wrong.
excuse the faceache video but three coppers where lying on top of one person/ where are the protests where are the people calling for them to be imprisoned. there arent any because the person being arrested was white.

She is talking about what is obviously serious and unjustified violence against Israelis, yet refuses to acknowledge that Israel is also guilty of crimes.
She is a 2 dimensional figure, looking at only one aspect of a complicated situation.
She is simplifying a difficult situation to a state of black vs white, and accusing others of being narrow minded and illogical.

How about better education for everyone? Not just the few?
Stop private education and improve schools for all.
If politicians of all parties cannot send kids away from State schools then maybe some more effort would be put in where it should be.

how? the classes are to big now the teacher spends most of the time dealing with disciplinary matters instead of teaching. of course one way of cutting class size and behavior issues is to stop immigrants going to the school. something tells me you wont agree to that.
anyone can send their child to private school. that is the point you dont have to be in a certain area and meet certain rules and criteria that dictate what school you can go to.

I did not say that all pupils should be put into the same class. I said that all pupils should get better education. That may well be through different teaching methods for different kids.
Nowhere do I think the needs of kids should be assessed dependent on the bank-balance of the parents.

If schools vary according to postcode, and if some are substandard….then make them all better.
Disallow politicians from sending kids to schools and concentrate their minds to do better for all.
