For those who want to offer asylum to no-one the suggested returns/exchange scheme will not be welcome. But then again nothing likely will please them.
This proposed scheme is meant to allow those who qualify for asylum and do not enter irregularly to get asylum, but those who do enter irregularly get kicked back double quick.
50 a week isn’t enough to make a difference? That is meant to be the start point so should increase if it works.
Those who end up here as a result are those who would qualify anyway under existing rules, it will not increase the number granted asylum overall, (so far as I can see*) but more of an incentive avoid irregular routes.
