Political discussions...

I recently fostered three invader children who looked about 30 years old apiece. It would have been four but the slippery critter ran away

Thames Water

Any big fans of them here? Anyone think the bosses there are hard done by, and are underpaid.

And to add…Another quote from Montague

You are right Coop, it was from £800 to £1500 per month, I put the lower rate in as thought nobody would believe me.

The top judge in Strasbourg will decide the fate of the German Shepherd, it will cost one million in legal fees, this country is a joke.
The rest of the world thinks we are the most stupid and soft country in the world.

We are storing for up a massive time bomb that will affect everyone’s lives more so than now.

As I and others have said before.
You need to ask why most unemployed people are unemployed.
And ask yourself, do you want perverts, fraudsters, thugs, druggies and drunks, the disaffected, or Liz Truss looking after your elderly and vulnerable relatives?
And as for the other 50% of long term unemployed. Do you want to give them the medical reason to go on permanent sick?
eh you say.
Because no matter how well a nursing home might be equipped with lifting equipment nowadays, you still end up having to physically move people around. And bad backs are the number one cause of sickness among the caring profession.
So someone with a weak back goes into nursing and then ends up seriously injured and unable to even do mundane stuff, that’s another person on the growing sick list.

I for one would only want the best care for my oldies, how about you?
Unfortunately that means paying for it. We seriously undervalue carers while paying gob ■■■■■■ and footballers insane salaries. And who can afford to buy a house, living off carer’s wages. You may be alright, but stop and really think.

Imagine you have to start all over again. No savings, no bank of mom and pop. You have to rent, while saving for a deposit while paying for all the costs of working and living.
By yourself.
Unless you have a very well paid job, and a cheap place to rent with low costs, you simply ain’t gonna get started because as fast as you can save money, the cost of a minimum deposit goes higher faster. You’d be chasing an ever receding hairline with regaine (other brands available).

Even as a couple you’ll find it difficult. Throw a few babies in and it becomes rapidly impossible.

We need a fundamental change in system here. Bring back dignity and value to careers like caring. Reduce the cost of social housing. Tax the rich. Nationalise energy and transport and education.

That’s an articulate, perspicacious and well written post.

There over one million not in education, not earning ,not claiming and not looking for work,to not being in training, some the balance shifted during and after the pandemic where people had time to revaluate their lives and lifestyles and financial decisions.

If some were working they may have shifted to work from home such as banking staff, as my calls in the pandemic, as I could tell they were by the distractions in the background, for noises you don’t hear in a busy call centre.

Did most take early retirement, move abroad, or live off their life savings?

When I was temporarily unemployed, they paid my council tax and housing benefit, the issue for many is finding a job where you can support yourself without the state benefits.

This then becomes a catch 22 situation where some claimants are better off not working as they couldn’t afford to pay the bills if the benefits stopped.

I knew a lady that had 6 children that each had different father’s , she didn’t know the names of them because they were all conceived on drunken one night stands when being inebriated, when the oldest child grew up, out pops another child to remain in the system for a relatively nice house all paid for by tax payers.

Oh dear, 2 tier Keir getting well criticised from Dianne Abbott, well done ord lass.

So you are in the simpleton bracket,
i thought that

Four articles from the same outlet yes, a trade publication, where else would you get in depth articles on deep sea fishing and the response to the latest agreement.
The articles are from different sources ie the politicians who know the industry, trade organisations and the people who will be directly effected.

In other words the ones who know a lot more about the situation than thee or me.

Are you trying to say with your limited knowledge they are all wrong ??

Because we do not have an in depth knowledge of the trade we do not know what is missing but the ones that matter obviously consider the deal a poor one.

It is their future not yours or mine.

The results of the deal may not be felt in the immediate but the industry appears to fearful for the future because of it.

Time will tell !!

itwont be long now before there is a party revolt and starmer is thrown out on his ear. However it wont be a good thing we will end up with corbyn and abbot will take the ginger nightmares place.

Interesting comment.
It is a specialised publication, but who buys it? Isn’t it a mouthpiece for the Fishing Industry?
It will not have a neutral editorial stance, will it?
Similarly Commercial Motor does not sell copy by being equally balanced between road and rail transport.

I cast no doubt on the facts presented.
I totally agree that they are upset about the deal. I do ask whether their upset is justified?

They are still no worse off than they were last year. They know the deal will not worsen for 12 years.
And negotiations do not always give better deals of course.

Why are they upset that they do not have a better deal?
Is it because they were promised that Brexit would mean the end of all foreign boats in UK waters?
Well, if that is the case it is yet another example of of Brexit Bollox.

I was thinking the same.

Had to laugh when Dianne Abbott mentioned Angela Rayner could be a replacement to 2 tier, although I did notice a smirk on her face when she made the point.

In other news…
The fishermen are not happy.
However…
Max Robespierre has a Victoria Derbyshire interview which shows how two faced the Tories are

they are all keeping very quiet at the moment when hystoricaly they have been opinionated on everything. dont forget it was rayner that brought abbott back.

#justsayin.

The bottom comment is so good.

if he really was putting “young people first” and “ending our dependence on foreign labor” then why has he signed a deal with india allowing them to import god knows how many and not pay taxes. why has he done a deal with the eu to open the borders.

Or is it a case of the young people are foreign and he will just give them citizenship.

That’s why he wants to build 1.5 million new homes for our new arrivals, that’s 1.5 million extra votes by the next time there’s an general election.
