I think a Terminator event is less likely. I grant you that it technically could happen. We’ve gone and done silly things like embed tech into all levels of security, airbases, power stations, water treatment etc etc etc. So we are hellishly exposed to the risk, but it’s more likely that humans will press a button. And AI gives them more power to go faster and harder. Use genAI to create fake videos or audio of senior officers and politicians to order events that individually aren’t doomsday events, but lead to a situation where doomsday happens when some unforeseen combination of events can lead to disaster. For instance, how the Japanese nuclear disaster happened. Fukushima happened because no one had considered what if all the problems did occur together. Some naughty person could spend years studying a target, work out which things need to go wrong, then set about causing those problems.
But I still maintain that the evil of AI is from mass monitoring and understanding of human behaviour to allow it’s manipulation on a level not seen before. Social influencers only influence relatively small segments at a time. AI can dynamically adapt to target all of us.
That’s only the beginning, it won’t too long away for the inevitable that’s definitely going to happen to this country by joining the dots , the writing is on the wall.
I can’t mention it on here as freedom of speech has been banned as certain authorities don’t like the truth.
The only cryptic clues are what will be main language in every school, what young girls and women will be forced to wear, and a plethora of other compliance, failure to adhere to that will result in severe punishment.
Lets wait and see before hanging any crooks in the streets. I would not even base my TV viewing choices on the rubbish that the torygraph prints. It’s highly naive or even disingenuous to trash one media i.e the bbc for being biased while broadcasting the biased nonsense of another media. Maybe a subtle point for some.
We need to not lose sight of the difference between reporting the facts even if they are selective facts, compared to printing opinions about selective facts, but then representing those opinions as facts. torygraph, gbnews etc all print opinions. The bbc seldom ever prints an opinion. Maybe it doesn’t tell all the facts, but by not spewing opinion out, it leaves room for more facts.
I read all the fiction books written by Hilary and William Clinton, the topic was what would happen if bad actors or terrorists could turn off the internet globally to hold the world to ransom until payment was made.
The list is too long to name what we all need the internet for, but suffice to say before it was invented we all got by without it, now we can’t get cope without it.
That’s global flights and shipping down the pan, banking, taxes, court systems, financial markets and management, taxes, pensions, driving records, and telecommunications and a plethora of endless possibilities.
