Political discussions...

This makes for depressing listening.
Make your own minds up on the amount of accuracy.

You got exactly the Brexit you voted for

They went through with what the campaign promised, unfortunately

Why 2016?
But I can easily see why you cherry picked 2021…the NHS had extra money because of COVID.
Stripping out the extra allocation the programmed spend was nearer £170b. than 233.

https://www.kingsfund.org.uk/insight-and-analysis/data-and-charts/nhs-budget-nutshell

Not so sure about that.
Brexit promises? Or what was hinted at? The campaign was open about what any future deal would be. It went from the “hard” no deal Brexit to the soft “Swiss” option.

Anyway what was on the cards in 2016…

Trade with the EU will be tariff-free and involve minimal bureaucracy

Anyone who has driven freight before and after will be laughing at that one.

Northern Ireland border ‘absolutely unchanged’

The physical border with Eire may be similar but the trade border between NI and the rest of the UK is evident.

Britain will take back control of its fisheries

We have an agreement with the EU about fisheries. Apparenty we now land more fish in the UK. Bercause those fish take longer to reach their biggest market they fetch less money. Oud fihers work harder and profits are now less than pre Brexit

£350M for the NHS instead of being sent to Brussels

The (in)famous red bus promise…That was disowned by most as soon as the vote was taken.

Continue cooperating on security issues and counter-terrorism

Yes a continuing relationship, but a weaker one. Becaiuse of data law the authorites have more problems than before. We no longer have direct links with EU data bases.

Why? Because of immigration or why?

It seems we have removed 24,000 migrants since Labour were voted in. How many have been blocked by the ECHR in that time?

Who else is outside the ECHR? Russia and Belarus.
Do we really want to be more like them?

Sorry russia and belaruse were part of the echr but we could have america as a standard or greece.

And out of that supposed 24,000 how many were voluntary? And how many of the remaining 5000 were already marked for deportation by the previouse government?

Were? Yes
Are they? No
They left in 2022…invasion of Ukraine…2022…no coincidence.
Greece was outside the ECHR when it was ruled by a military regime. They rejoined when democracy was restored.

Did I?
Oh !..ok then.

Seeing as you adressed that directly to me you are essentially speaking for me with that statement.:joy:
So Cheers …I can stop posting now then, and just leave it to you to answer for me and give my opinions, I know how some of you lot think, that we did not knoe what we voted for,.and you lot knew much better,.and stuff that we did not.

So ot will.save me a lot of time…how’s that sound to you?

:roll_eyes::joy:
Nah I did not get what I voted for I can state that categorically…
If I had there would not be foreign criminal scum masquerading as refugees and languishing in luxury in 4 star hotels thst I help pay for…for starters.

Just to say…
I had zero intention (as I said 2x) to get into another Brexit discussion, because all it achieves (as proven just now) is the rest of us having to suffer Franglais publicly creaming his pants, by giving him yet another platform for him to play his favourite game of '‘Wannabe politician’ over all this crap…in his usual condescending stylee.
So well done.:+1:
.
.

Clarification to above
Belarus has never been in the ECHR. Russia left in 2022.
Greece rejoined in 1974.

Ahh the ECHR…an organisation that does (and has done) SO much good for our country. :joy::joy:

Brfore you even go into the ins and outs of it, there are two aspects of it that immediately tell me it is everything bad for the UK in general

1.The fact that it contains the wotd '‘European’ in it’s title.

2.Liberal Lefty clowns (like Franglais) advocate it with enthusiasm, and think it is a good thing.

That for me sits firmly in the '‘Nuff Said’ category.
:joy::joy:

2016 because thatsvwhen we had the referendum and the gullable said that the nhs would collapse as all the staff would go and we woulld all be dying in the street.

2021 waw picked because it was the last full year of johnson the one that implimented it. Its no good saying trump is good because he has the declaration of independence. It had nothing to do with him. If you want to measure the good of something you have to look at that time line.

So now you want to strip out the extra allocation and say see nothing has changed.

Brexit was implemented on jan 2020. 2019/2020 the budget was 157 billion. As said 2021/2022 it was 233 billion. Increase of 76 billion over 2 years so thats 38 billion a year or 730.77 million a week over twice the promised 350 a week.

No. @chrisdalott was right you got what you voted for.
The results of what you voted for are not what you expected.

Many said that leaving the EU would result in better finances and less migration.
Clearly neither of those is true.

You did get what you voted for.
Those who promised different results from the action you voted for and got, are still lying to you.
Why are you still listening to them?

For russia to leave they have to be in it first
If Belarus was never in it why were they suspended on 17/3/22
https://www.coe.int/en/web/ccpe/-/the-russian-federation-is-excluded-from-the-council-of-europe

You need to realise i research what i say. I just dont follow the brain washed

Do you bother reading your own links?

No where does it say that Belarus was a member of the ECHR nor the Council of Europe.
It says it suspended all relations with Belarus. Not suspended membership.

I never said Russia was “never a member”
Like I said you are inventing stuff to argue about.

I’m out of this.

Ahh :joy:… another one with the shear arrogance to tell me what I REALLY think and not what I actually DO think…cheers.

Oh hang on just realised it’s Franglais this time…wtf do I expect but pomposity and allthe rest of it

Oh while you are on …
What do I REALLY think (as opposed to what I tell people) about Newcastle’s chances of coming 2nd in the league?

(Let me know asap as I’m planning a visit to the bookies later.:+1:)

WHY are you still trying to get me into another Brexit discussion,…Aint you got any more Trump hate posts to concentrate on?

The vote was about leaving the EU.
We have left the EU’

You got what you voted for.

How you thought it might turn out, is something completely different.

What you thought would be the results of leaving the EU, indeed what many promised you are not what you expected, are not what you thought is true.

Voting for Brexit gave us the opportunity.

Unfortunately that opportunity was squanded once it became clear that no-one in power then or since wanted it.

Just been reading up on this as I follow a few landlord forums and pages on social media.

Absolutely disgusting yet again from this shower in charge. Thankfully a lot of landlords from what I was reading said they won’t be taking part out of principle. Good on them as well for turning down the guaranted rent and maintenance costs being covered.

I guess though if the government are offering “5 year terms” to landlords then there is no desire to deport them or even “smash the gangs” then.

If only we had saddled up those unicorns they would be taking over all the rainbows we wished for wouldn’t they.
Just more vague words and “yes buts” and “no buts” and “if onlys” to try to deflect from the reality.

Brexit was an idea that because we were in a less than perfect place something different must be better. A foolish notion.

Remakably similar to Trump and his MAGA religion.
We need a change because things are not perfect. I know! Let us take the system that has made the US the most prosperous nation for decades and change it overnight!

A half arsed set of ambitions masquerading as a “plan”.
