So in Rotherham there were something like 1500 victims of the Muslim r4pe gangs, that’s just 1 town, add to that all the other victims of the towns and cities that HAVE the same issues and the number becomes unsurmountable, this over decades. The other devil in the detail I have yet to see clearly stated is what precisely are we talking about with trans people.
Are we solely talking about people with GRCs who dress etc like the opposite sex, but have not had surgery to transition. Are we seriously gonna make post op trans women for instance, use a male toilet. Send them to a male prison. We’ve all heard of the soap jokes in prisons, how apparently previously tough mean all macho types, somehow think they’re still being alpha males when they take a “■■■■■” and shove their faces down into the pillow. An attitude I have never understood.
So if such macho types will “go gay for the stay” then it takes zero imagination to see that a trans woman who has had her bits surgically remade to resemble lady bits, is gonna have a very nasty, horrific, painful and short time in a male prison before dying.
The popular press, can say, now that I’ve made that specific point, that obviously the government/courts/public opinion are only talking about men who present as female clutching a bit of paper. But as we all know, out there, there are enough idiots who simply don’t think, don’t consider nuances, don’t really care either about details. Specifics do need to be pointed out but all governments seem to drop that ball almost as if they all secretly love to stir trouble.
Too often in politics a rare case is jumped on and then promoted as a deluge. For instance that prisoner up in Scotland. They apparently had raped women then changed “gender” before going to court, using their psychological state of mind as a part defence, and wanted to go to a woman’s prison. Sometimes it’s difficult not to believe someone is seriously trying to swing the lead. But one case then dictates a country’s whole policy on trans women (what about trans men? ) and all the quietly law abiding innocent people get swept along in the tide of hate.
Are we going to roll all the way back to how the US is now acting, insist that everyone has passports showing their sex at birth.
Then there is the age old situation of people born neither all one or the other. Both physically by appearance, internally with organs, or chromosomally. Prior to all this hoohah over the last decade, there has always been people with differences, making trump’s statement there are only two sexes, a nonsense. That’s the real reason why starmeee struggled to define a woman because what about the outliers. Those women who are born without maybe either a womb, or ovaries, or people with both a vagi!na and a pen!s. (exemption claimed mods) And how about those born without obvious genitalia at all, albeit very very rarely, but what sex do these people put on their passport now the puritans are in charge on the US.
And the issue of intersex leads to issue of the difficulty in competitive sports. Again, despite there only been a few trans female athletes at elite levels, those few have created a disproportionate impact on the debate. I totally agree that in a few cases, some male to female trans athletes have retained at least in body size, some advantage over the majority of their cis female competitors such as that swimmer, or the boxer. Me thinks they would accept their situation and quietly step back from the glare of publicity which has only harmed trans rights globally.
But other cases, including the trans fencer which a few have commented on here, erm, details guys, details. The cis female who forfeited the match, she had played and beaten several males previously, so when she chose to forfeit against the trans woman, she was simply making a political statement and of course the maggats and anti trans brigade soon made full capital of that. Funny seeing as fencing is a sport of skill. If anything excess bulk or strength could be a impediment if they were slower because of it.
Us older ones will remember the endless times that certain countries, not mentioning names beginning with R, whose female Olympic athletes competing in the sports where bulk and strength confer advantages like wrestling, shotput etc, were accused of using testosterone to bulk up the ladies. But whatabout women who we have all known, those we met often down on farms for instance out lifting men. Would a young man growing up on a farm decide he is a girl then dress so. Or is it that all people come in an amazing range of sizes and abilities naturally. Just as you sometimes meet men who are very short and slightly built.
That’s is what is going to make, making rules for sports difficult. Women can have various medical issues that cause them to make higher levels of testosterone naturally. If we ban women athletes for having T levels above an arbitrary level, we’re denying some people equal rights. Or the flip side, a very small man is hardly likely to ever beat Phelps in swimming. Life is not fair, and 50% of winners, have a natural advantage rather than only training and focusing better than others.
Where do you draw the line to create fairness?
Bottom line, it seems this government even more than previous ones, is kneejerk policy making out of fear, not leadership. Oh there is a riot going on, lets name a suspect who hasn’t even been charged yet, throwing away a policy followed for decades. (yes, what that terrorist scumbag did to those girls was awful and repugnant) but it’s about the principle of law. Just like in the US, trump sending an innocent man without due process, to a hellhole for life. When rules are broken, or rewritten like that, mistakes are made that effect individuals for life.
Finally, some proper science for you to chew over. Those that like to come up with balderdash like “it’s a lifestyle choice” despite the clearly immense cost to a person’s mental wellbeing, and social standing, wealth, and physical health.
