Nope. The original fixed term lease came to an end. At that point the tenants had no legal right to stay on. The tenants were offered the chance to stay on, on a short term lease, but they chose to go elsewhere.

I note you think she should resign for doing something that is not illegal, but defended your hero even though he actually broke a law. He broke his own law and you said he should stay on.
