Braveheart2009:
If it’s part of your job to park at a location like an event to load or unload goods and police tell you to move immediately
What do you do?
Personally, I would ask them the reason? causing obstruction? what road traffic law am I breaking?
Show them paperwork that you have a delivery to make
Or get them to speak to your manager?
Or just shut up and do what they say as they will fine you anyway regardless of what you say? as verbal obstruction?
Depends on my mood. I have had various interactions with the filth.
From simply doing as told to causing absolute chaos in Runcorn’s custody suite In your example, considering I am at work and getting paid, I would move the wagon and get my boss to sort it out with them.
Braveheart2009:
what if you called your boss on your mobile and he/she was unavailable?
Would you hand your phone over to the police? Or would you give them the number for your boss and they can call them from their own phones?
I would use speakerphone incase they take your phone for inspection?
If your where your told to tip then you have done as instructed and its up to someone else to sort it if you have to move or not, depends also how long you are going to be there or if you have started to tip or not,as for your phone being inspected how can parking somewhere they reckon isn’t safe or not warrant your phone being looked at? Unless you kick off or be an arse or have something you don’t want the rozzers to see.

Don’t be a bellend.
Explain why you’re in that location.
If still required to move then move.
Phone office and explain.
Let them deal with it.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This^^^^^^^^.
If you are in the middle of unloading, a sensible officer, would say when finished leave asap, if you get a ticket, that’s for the company to protest, if waiting to unload, drive off and come back in 5 minutes. Why make an issue out of a simple situation.

Yep…this.
Explain why I’m there and then without being a ■■■■ ask them if they could explain you to why they still need you to move, which they have to tell you. And tell them you need a legitimate reason to give to your boss. Then as above, no problem officer, move off, phone boss, and sit and wait while it gets sorted out between him and the customer. Could be 24hours or more if some council permit is required.

Let’s be real here, the percentage of drivers who’d actually do anything other than be polite, courteous and subservient in the real life situation opposed to puffing their chests out and being the anarchistic rebels they’d have us believe they are on the t’interweb are vastly different!
People tend to act very differently when the www. safety. net is removed

Surely they’ll only ask you to move if you’re somewhere you shouldn’t be. Get on the phone to the delivery point and check you’re instructions.if you’ve followed them properly, it isn’t your problem.

What them 2 said, in fact with most people, you’d be amazed what a bit of politeness can achieve, can defuse many situations.
I’d just move immediately and tell boss when safe to do so.
I don’t give a crap if the load gets delivered as long as I have a decent reason as to why it couldn’t be delivered.
Dunno why you would even consider arguing with the police unless your a Owner Operator and you will personally lose money.
I know some people get upset when the police ask them to move but they get upset because they are on their break. It’s stupid. Do a print out explaining what happened and if you can get the officer to sign it then find a more suitable place.
On the roads priority should be emergency services > local government services > HGVs/Buses > General public > motorcycles with polite high vis and go pro cameras.
Not trying to step on toes here, but it’s a question that shouldn’t need asking. A copper over rules your boss and whoever you’re delivering to. Maybe you should have someone with you to hold your hand.
I am fortunate that I have a number of police officers as friends, I also for many years on heavy haulage worked closely with traffic officers , I will tell you know straight, none of them ever want to make your life difficult- they have a job,. they recognise you also have a job to do… they will try to accommodate you as best they can… until you fail the attitude test - fail that and they have the power to screw your day up and more besides.
so the answer to the question is… be polite, explain what your trying to do and why and ask them how they can help you achieve it- you would be surprised how a smile, handshake and a compliant attitude can get what you want rather than being aggressive/arguementative

We’re all human no matter the job we do. Be polite, be nice and generally you’ll get the same back. Be an arse about it and expect the corresponding attitude back.
A pat on the holster by the Guardia Civil is usually enough to get compliance by those being an arse…
