Police research into Lay-by parking

I must say this has been a real disappointment - perhaps I was naïve in thinking a polite and open post asking for help/experiences in an issue which I thought you’d appreciate would actually get some polite responses (I appreciate there were some, and thanks for trying Freight Dog).

I could try another site but from the experience here suspect the responses would be the same - which unfortunately gives an unfair representation of truckers in general. As for the insulting and offensive anti-police rants, I genuinely hope none of your family are ever killed on the roads (like the 64 in Essex in 2016) but if they are, perhaps then the penny might drop, although I doubt it.

I’ll leave this up for another day or two now that I have ‘proved’ I’m real then give up, leave the site and leave you all to it

Sleeping out in a tin can for the week does send you miserable mate.

Funny, just being nosy, looking at your profile Mr Essex cop , it states “OCCUPATION” “Driver”, shouldn’t it say Police Officer?

Lol!! What can I say!!

I do like you lot, but Jeez I thought I was a cynic! I’ve just been given a masterclass in the art.

Well, I would say your disappointment is of no suprise at all. However, being just a “John Doe” member of trucknet I can’t gurantee this, but I’ve been on here a little while and there are a lot of quite experienced and very reasoned posters on here with a wealth of driving experience (Robroy, Dipper Dave, Maoster etc have already posted). I suspect they haven’t had opportune time with shifts etc to read your posts yet. I’m sure they would be able to provide some valuable input.

Interesting threads tend to act like a magnet to the oddballs, stirrers and those who never quite left school. And no one knows who they are. It’s certainly no gurantee that they even have ever driven an HGV, such is the Internet. Which is pretty frustrating for the real drivers. So I’d get if you jacked it in trying, but hopefully some of the drivers will stick their oar in and engage.

Cheers

More trolling then .You can find many sites for fake emails .And the last reply is just not from any copper .im a fan of the police as without them we would be having the army or private security,And that would be a joke …Fines for bounese etc .

fake.

I do sympathise, this place is a nightmare with the childish character posts. Don’t get me wrong, a few years ago Trucknet was a laugh (about time when Contraflow was around) and interesting.

But keep your hair on. This post is genuine and it’s potentially quite interesting and a chance to engage with someone in a position to perhaps help lorry drivers, or at least raise the plight of parking. Slowly slowly catchy monkey etc etc…

(Even if you were to be hood winked by one of these wolly “trolls”, ask yourself. What’s the worse that can happen? Everyone sighs with sympathy? Not like they’re going to have your house from you. Keep it in perspective )

Too late, too late by at least a few years.

Your post is not genuine & your blunt attempt at pacifying me cannot work, do not try to circle the wagons. Too late by at least a few years.

I’m finished with this sock. Come back as the sole identity that runs this forum, retire all of these sock puppetts & maybe I won’t press my Essex Inspector to shut you down. Cos’ I really do think that some good can be done here.

Push me & I will. How I have gained my info might be horribly illegal but they won’t give a FF, they tend to protect their sources.

You are not an Essex copper & never have been. You are nothing more than yet another troll persona that seems to infect this forum.

I’m now 99% convinced that you are an employee of DVV Media International Ltd or maybe even Ian Salter himself. You have a good nights sleep now won’t you, busy day tomorrow

EssexTrafficSgt:
CAPTAIN CAVEMAN - that is something we are looking at (there is already one further up the A12 which caters for this) but again I would need to evidence the need/problem.

THE SNOWMAN - that would be because I am posting in an informal manner, not representing the official party line and I have been clear on that. Police are normal human beings just like you (even traffic  )

ALIBONGOO - services etc. would be far more appropriate and provide other amenities, can’t see any issue with 45mins/daily rests though and hundreds do so on the A12, A127 and A13 every weeknight.

TRUCKYBOY, thank you.

BEETLEJUICE (again) - I have no idea what you are referencing and haven’t clicked on the link as this is the only post I have added to any non-police site. I suspect from your posts so far you are a very suspicious character (possibly for good reason)

FREIGHT DOG - you are right in the ridiculous lack of service station parking for HGVs - we regularly patrol MOTOs @ J31 M25 and Welcome Break @ J8 M11 for any potential fuel/load thefts as well as vulnerable laybys (and have caught some - such as the theft of fuel from several HGVs on the A12 in the Brentwood area a few weeks ago, as some on here may know about)

Thank you

It was genuine. I don’t need or give a monkies about pacifying you. Think what you wish, no skin off my rosey nose :unamused:

Well, I’m going to assume that the OP’s genuine (admin’s assurance is good enough for me) so here’s my 2 cents’ worth.

Yes, these advertising trailers/vans are a ■■■■ nuisance. My beat, to use your terminology, is South Wales, and particularly around the Bridgend area there are a couple of laybys which are perpetually littered with such vehicles. Most of them are invariably parked slap in the middle of said lay-bys all day, meaning that larger vehicles are unable to use them at all; the two most used are adjacent to a retail park which stops lorry drivers being able to park there for a break and use the shops and food outlets thereon. Another one leaves the van at the front end of a lay-by on the A4332 just before the Culverhouse Cross exit, nose in to the kerb so that the side is easily visible to passing traffic, and I’m surprised that no-one’s yet hit the ■■■■ thing.

I have been sorely tempted to write to the relevant authorities about the two in Bridgend, asking that a time limit be put on parking there in order to deter all day parking by advertising vans. However, the cynic in me thinks that if I did that, the council’s response would probably be to close the lay-bys competely, ensuring that everyone loses out.

Please don’t be put off by the behaviour of some of the chimps on here. Some of us are capable of a measured, adult response to a polite question.

Wow, just wow. I have no other words.

seems to be shaping up nicely to be a classic case of trolling pish yet again.
how many ages will it need to be a record?

It amazes me that so many members here moan that they are not listened too, when they are asked to comment on new rules. they choose to show dance, rather than engage, looking at some of the posts in this thread its no wonder your opinion isn’t asked- because your behaving like arses. If you cant be a grown up for at least a few moments then don’t post.

Lets get back to something resembling the topic in question shall we.

To the small group of people who just want to bang on about multiple account holders and trolls, take it to the feedback forum or Bully’s please, this is not the place for your obsession with trolls :unamused:

Thank you for the response. As a night trunker, I only occasionally use these laybys. I can usually tell well in advance whether or not I’ll make my run in one hit but due to the volume of vehicles using these rest facilities, it’s impossible to plan on using a specific layby, it may well be full of genuine users, be they trucks or cars. In fact, I usually plump for the first empty space I come to just to make sure I avoid an infringement. Having an advertising vehicle in them makes no difference whatsoever to me, if they weren’t there, someone else would be.

If it’s a question of fairness, yes it is unfair that someone is using a space that they don’t NEED. but hey, life isn’t fair. If it’s a question of law (and given that you went on a "ticketfest "), then you should already have the powers that you need. Unless of course you’re looking to increase your powers, something to which you have already alluded to.

The cynic in me is warning that the banning of advertising vehicles is just the start and the long term intention is to see these facilities closed completely, as we have seen in other areas.

Edit to mods: is it possible to clean this thread and remove the clutter.
