Freight Dog, i suspect the Essex Police Sgt in question logged on this morning, and after about 30 seconds looking at some of the ■■■■■■■■ in sheer disbelief, sadly shook his head closed down and has buggered off never to be seen or heard of here again, one could hardly blame him
Gauging by the hysterics you’d think think the original post was from an SAS soldier of Bravo 20, not a Police Officer with a polite request for some experience of parking issues on a particular stretch of road
One can only imagine the chat round the water cooler in a nick somewhere in essex.
“Hi sarge how did you get on asking pro drivers about lay-by issues on that forum thingy.”
“Well WPC Collins, I was greeted with troll accusations, general tomfoolery, a few members doing one, and various levels of innuendo and whimsey.”
“Oh just like a day on the beat in Brentwood then sarge.”
“Indeed but could you pull up the file on that dodgy Stobart driver aka ‘dozy’ and investigate dipper-dave’s neighbours”…
Thanks for the welcome Rog - I’m not on here in an official capacity i.e can’t speak on behalf of Essex Police but will try and answer the points in following posts in order (I’ve been away for a few days).
STANLEY: Although we have some powers to tow away obstructions in certain circumstances, this probably wouldn’t be proportionate in the circumstances.
NODDING DONKEY: The law to a certain extent is subjective and open to interpretation, with the courts making the ultimate decision however I wouldn’t view them as simply parking - they are making an intentional trip there with the sole intention of making money from that space, at the expense of other road users. As for your suspicions, I can’t speak for your experiences but I have never had an issue with a commercial vehicle of any type taking a break in laybys and have never taken any action or disturbed them - I am not aware of anyone else in Essex doing so either. Parking under motorway bridges for 45s is another thing and something I and my colleagues will always deal with and that won’t change. As for being dubious to my motives - that says more about you than it does me - how about we show each other the courtesy of trust until there is a reason not to? (besides, i’m not sure what other motive I could have from this very narrow question?)
DJC - yes I have noted that (thanks though) as well as some generic shots at night of full laybys to further show the issue. I can’t and won’t speak on behalf of or criticise the council, i’m sure you can understand.
BEETLEJUICE/MAGA - I have discussed a general issue and not disclosed the company name in question or any other private information so not sure of an issue - I think its fair to assume the public know we give out tickets (we get enough stick from it from Daily Mail readers who think we should be catching murderers!!) My IP information will quickly and easily identify me if there are any concerns however I am confident there are no professional standards issues here, especially as my post is overt and for a Policing purpose.
If anyone is concerned i’m not who I say (not sure what I would benefit and if I were a Walt I would presumably have posted something more exciting?!) then I can probably persuade people otherwise but really don’t feel the need (I am happy to do so privately to a moderator though if needed, I have also used my Police email address to register which I needed to verify)
To keep it as bite sized chunks I will spread answers across a couple of posts…

How many Police Sgt’s do you think Essex has?
How many of those do you think are involved in traffic?
How many do you think are unknown to to an Essex Traffic Inspector?
Maybe we got the wrong Essex Traffic Inspector, who wasn’t aware that some other Essex Traffic Inspector is in control of a Sargeant who’s asking TNUK’s opinion on whether they should remove parked trailers from Essex layby’s?
If this Sargeant exists, why will they only talk to us through TNUK? & why doesn’t a traffic Inspector from Essex Police know of their operation?
I’m obviously too [ZB] stoopid to find out!

So. You’re not here in an official capacity & you can’t speak on behalf of Essex Police.
You’re not actually a Police Officer are you?
Are you prepared to come clean? Are you prepared to reveal your true identity? Are you prepared for the consequences of what you have done?
AXELTRAMP - sorry, should have clarified - its the vehicle based ones we are having issues with, i.e on a flatbed of an Iveco Daily or similar.
FREIGHT DOG - you are correct, I have never used this site so have no idea of any issues and have addressed any suspicion in the previous post, it also looks like Diesel Dave has clarified this in the post after yours (hopefully you can understand my wish to remain anon, especially with some of the posts so far…
)
Yes, this is generally part of the work I have done over recent months to try and ensure laybys are available for those who use them for the reasons they were installed.
BEETLEJUICE - still suspicious aren’t you? Police email addresses aren’t .gov (that’s council and local authority) ours are .Police.Uk, as the one I used is.
ADONIS - you are clearly one of the Daily Mail readers I referred to
- perhaps dealing regularly with the death and destruction on the roads (which many of you are professional drivers must see/be affected by) isn’t seen by you as ‘real policing’ but I can assure you it is appreciated by the families (one every week in Essex on average over the last 2yrs)
DOZY - I have posted overtly as Police and only intend to hang around long enough to get some feel for the issue I perceive, if the moderators would rather I leave as they feel members aren’t comfortable I won’t lose any sleep.
DIPPER DAVE - thank you

It amazes me that so many members here moan that they are not listened too, when they are asked to comment on new rules. they choose to show dance, rather than engage, looking at some of the posts in this thread its no wonder your opinion isn’t asked- because your behaving like arses. If you cant be a grown up for at least a few moments then don’t post.
There’s very little in the way of actual discussions of the problems us lorry drivers face here on TNUK Rikki-UK.
Did you not know that they take a VERY dim view of anyone who impersonates a Police Officer ?
I think you have to dress up and pretend to be guilty of that, my dads mate was introduced as a police officer and he kicked our arses, he owned a pub up the road
CAPTAIN CAVEMAN - that is something we are looking at (there is already one further up the A12 which caters for this) but again I would need to evidence the need/problem.
THE SNOWMAN - that would be because I am posting in an informal manner, not representing the official party line and I have been clear on that. Police are normal human beings just like you (even traffic
)
ALIBONGOO - services etc. would be far more appropriate and provide other amenities, can’t see any issue with 45mins/daily rests though and hundreds do so on the A12, A127 and A13 every weeknight.
TRUCKYBOY, thank you.
BEETLEJUICE (again) - I have no idea what you are referencing and haven’t clicked on the link as this is the only post I have added to any non-police site. I suspect from your posts so far you are a very suspicious character (possibly for good reason)
FREIGHT DOG - you are right in the ridiculous lack of service station parking for HGVs - we regularly patrol MOTOs @ J31 M25 and Welcome Break @ J8 M11 for any potential fuel/load thefts as well as vulnerable laybys (and have caught some - such as the theft of fuel from several HGVs on the A12 in the Brentwood area a few weeks ago, as some on here may know about)

Really, so why hasn’t he come back to comment on the diss or thank everyone for their input??
Have you blocked him dude? Check the post above yours
Freight Dog:

You don’t have to explain to me, but try to explain to the non troll readership of TNUK why I should show some of the manners you think I lack. If you’re up to it, you could perhaps then point out where my manners might be lacking.
Do you not know, are you so unaware, that you are only pointing out that you are a part of it?
Do you really, do you really think that all of us truck drivers are stupid, illiterate dumwits?

yeah Moaster it was blocked, that’s why I’ve deleted the post, just ■■■■■■ me off, with all the info he was getting, mine included, there was no reaction. Now reading all of his replies , in one go may I add, still think he’s a fraud
WINSEER - re my previous post, maybe some members on here are aware of the fuel thefts from a foreign HGV pulling alongside several HGVs on the A12, before, on and after the Mountnessing roundabout a few weeks ago. I was the officer who photographed then moved (about 30m, in a slow line very slowly and cautiously!) the suspect vehicle.
DROVER - i’m not, but know it happens and these mobile bill boards are left there far longer
EAGERBEAVER - thanks for your contribution, very gown up of you - feel free not to call us if you ever get attacked/have a crash/family member goes missing/get burgled etc. (cue the “i wouldn’t any as you’re all useless” reply…)
ADONIS - perhaps reflect on what they says about you (really glad I came on here with a genuine motive to actually help its members)
PLERROT 14 - this would be for the council/Highways to clear
NODDING DONKEY - I have been on days off - regardless of the feelings on some on here, we work very hard and don’t have much time, even then I am checking and replying from home in my own time but have been busy the last few days so didn’t have time to get the laptop out (mobiles don’t lend themselves to long typed replies. You really do have an issue with me don’t you, despite the fact we have never met and I have been open and polite?
MARTIN - I checked on my mobile, saw there was a lot to respond to so waited until I could log on properly
QUINNY - I have nothing to prove and the site manager is happy I am genuine, I don’t imagine I will be posting any further topics (no predicted need and from the responses, I don’t anticipate hanging around)

I have no idea what the rest of trucknet has to do with it. I thought your post was pretty rude.
Not sure where illiterate, stupid and dimwits come into it. Answers no.
EssexTrafficSgt:
I am a Road Policing Sgt with Essex Police
Are you a serving Police Sergeant with Essex Police?

It’s being increasingly hinted on here that the trollfest might actually be coming from the mods, from the site owners themselve’s !
I don’t know. I’m too [ZB] stoopid to work out where all the postings are coming from & there is absolutely NO truth to the rumour that I have top level access to the sever farm that TNUK runs on, nor do I have a packet sniffer running on any computer owned or operated by Ian Salter or his international empire of DVV Media International Ltd.
DORK LORD - this is getting boring now. I can’t speak on behalf of Essex Police as it would need to be cleared and its unlikely they would want to be seen to choose a particular site over another. I was simply posting, as a one off, overtly, to try and get additional information to support an issue I was dealing with. Thank god the RHA weren’t as suspicious and actually helped (as well as thanking me for the interest and help).

I do sympathise, this place is a nightmare with the childish character posts. Don’t get me wrong, a few years ago Trucknet was a laugh (about time when Contraflow was around) and interesting.
But keep your hair on. This post is genuine and it’s potentially quite interesting and a chance to engage with someone in a position to perhaps help lorry drivers, or at least raise the plight of parking. Slowly slowly catchy monkey etc etc…
(Even if you were to be hood winked by one of these wolly “trolls”, ask yourself. What’s the worse that can happen? Everyone sighs with sympathy? Not like they’re going to have your house from you. Keep it in perspective
)
Can’t wait to see the replies to his/her comments
