Police research into Lay-by parking

I would have thought that the easiest thing to do would be to go back after lighting up time and ticket them for leaving an unattended trailer without lights.

100% this.

If in doubt I fall back on manners, respect and forum etiquette to demonstrate not only professionalism but also that not all drivers are non PC knuckle draggers looking for a cheap laugh.

Two birds-one stone, reminds me of the time I dated anorexic twins.

Massive + 1 DD.

Best course of action i suggest is to get an agreement with a local haulier, probably same as you lads do with regular and competent recovery services for clearing up accidents.

Remove the offending trailers to a compound and submit a bill to the advertiser if the owner of the trailer or billboard cannot be determined, recovery costs, storage charges plus an admin charge should do the trick.

Obviously there would be an outcry if you just went ahead without warning so maybe let the offending billboard operators and regular advertisers know that from such and such a date, unaccompanied trailers being obviously used for general adverts etc taking up layby space will be removed and invoices will follow, no payers within a certain time, the vehicle is sold for scrap, which should in nearly all cases cover the costs involved.

It’s not an area i frequent any more, but the parking situation is getting way out of hand in most parts of the country, not just overnight either, it’s now touch and go if you can find room in a layby to have a rest period on some routes.
Some layby designs are plain ridiculous too, in many cases the layby can be hundreds of yards long, with a slip road at each end with room to actually only park one or two lorries at the most and that’s if they take as little room as possible.

Thanks for your interest in this OP.

A whole post without mentioning immigration… :grimacing:

So first its not against the law to park a trailer with a big ad on the side for as long as they like and if it is they cant do anything about it except bring them through a court case and before that they have to give multi notices going on for weeks thats some law and it beggars belief that someone of the op credentials would come on here asking for people’s opinions
No disrespect to anyone but it just don’t make sense its a simple thing to sort out if you are the law the layby was not build for private companies to ply there business in on a moveable mobile Bill board that doesn’t move for weeks

Memo to Mr Essex Police Sergeant, if you are really concerned, get yourself down to the A13, just off of the M25, London bound near the Wennington exit, there is a trailer full of rubbish that has been in a lay-bye for eons, now cordoned off because the trailer is dangerously leaning on a lamp post, nobody can park there! Or again on this road between the M25 and theA13, these trailers are full of crap!

For the OP. I know it’s not what you asked for (occasions where it’s caused hassle) but found this might be of use

plymouthnewsroom.co.uk/ad-traile … -roadside/

Plymouth Council had this problem and cited the need for planning consent. Maybe a council thing too?

Could be a technicality but a trailer left abandoned prob won’t be displaying lights as per rule 250 in HC but I suspect that’ll also catch out normal blokes parking there in good faith and the trailer advertisers could easily get round this with some cheap ebay specials for a quid.

Welcome EssexTrafficSgt

I expect you are likely to get many questions on other issues :exclamation:

Rog, just an idea, to save this being a troll suspicion thread is there anyway of ratifying this is genuine by messaging him for kind verification? A visitor doesn’t know this place has become a troll nest recently…

A fair concern and for the very reason you gave FD, so let’s just say that a work’s email address was used.

^^^^^^^^
i think your taking the mickey saying that.
n doubt itl be true if you say it is,but youve avoided the issue of it being a plod type bona fide work ip or a stobart type in which case its just another ukdamon alias to troll?

IP addresses dont mean a lot DD as A VPN will allow you to set your IP address to any country/ address you like. I use Hotspot Shield VPN, not for security (my name is on this board :grimacing: ) but it allows you to connect to the internet via servers in your home country, allows easy access to Tv and streaming. An genuine email address though which Diesel Dave was refering especially from an official organisation is easy to spot…

It makes me laugh when people have to use VPNs to access stuff that should be available to them, but isn’t.

“You cannot view this in your country”.
WTF? - It’s about something in this country, so why not?

Makes me think our government is trying to set up a “Great Firewall” like they have in China! :open_mouth:

DD, the gift that just keeps giving…

It amazes me that so many members here moan that they are not listened too, when they are asked to comment on new rules. they choose to show dance, rather than engage, looking at some of the posts in this thread its no wonder your opinion isn’t asked- because your behaving like arses. If you cant be a grown up for at least a few moments then don’t post.

if coppers are now comming on this board I’m off , I’ve had my fill of them over the years , Don’t trust them one bit :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: goodbye

It’s an ill wind…

While I am not saying I don’t believe the op, would he care to e.mail his number and a copy of his warrant card to either Rikki or Dave for verification?

That way we can see if the op is genuine, or if it is Dozy having another hissy.

Ken.

I think they’ve already answered they’re satisfied it’s genuine on page 1. People are making themselves look fools now going over this troll thing. What’s worse anyway, falling for a Dozy prank or us tarting around when an actual Officer from Essex Police force who asked our honest opinion and input on something that could be of industry benefit, logs on and reads all these amateur dramatics?

There’s very little in the way of actual discussions of the problems us lorry drivers face here on TNUK Rikki-UK.

If you too stoopid to realise it then it needs to be pointed out to you, it’s just one big [ZB] trollfest.

It’s being increasingly hinted on here that the trollfest might actually be coming from the mods, from the site owners themselve’s !

I don’t know. I’m too [ZB] stoopid to work out where all the postings are coming from & there is absolutely NO truth to the rumour that I have top level access to the sever farm that TNUK runs on, nor do I have a packet sniffer running on any computer owned or operated by Ian Salter or his international empire of DVV Media International Ltd.

P.S. Why is it registered in Germany ■■?

I’m also too [ZB] stoopid to have had a conversation with a real, genuine, bona fide Inspector of Police today, one who has taken an intense interest in the t’interweb & one who also takes an intense interest in traditional crimes being translated into that tinterwebby type thing. Interesting conversation indeed

Did you not know that they take a VERY dim view of anyone who impersonates a Police Officer ?

Freight Dog, i suspect the Essex Police Sgt in question logged on this morning, and after about 30 seconds looking at some of the ■■■■■■■■ in sheer disbelief, sadly shook his head closed down and has buggered off never to be seen or heard of here again, one could hardly blame him :unamused:
