It happened, it was unpleasant but it STILL happened and crying off throwing the PC temper tantrum/ faux outrage/ offended is not helping the situation. By doing so is trying to sanitize historical events (usually to fit some other narrative)
So my original quote fits perfectly in such a situation.

i wish someone would hurry up and kickstart it in the uk .

I’m intrigued, as a Warwickshire resident, council tax payer and income tax payer, as to why for numbers of years theres been no resources to attend break ins for days (it was three full days before one showed up at my elderly mothers house following a break in), no town centre patrols for years, many protestations from the Chief Constable about a lack of resources etc. I cant wait to see where these extra resources suddenly come from.
