Not this week, but a week last Monday it went like this:
Halifax to Blaenau FFestiniog with 26t, so far so good.
Then empty to Holmfirth to collect for the Olympics.
Parked up at Alconbury that night, (650 kms later.) then the following morning the load was refused, so took it to St.Ives in Cambridgeshire. Then empty to Coventry to collect for Bury the following day, then it started to go ok.
Picked up a roll of led about the size of a coke can in a 18t put it in my cab then it got wrapped to a pallet when I got back to warehouse … (the label was bigger than the goods lol)
20mile trip out of my way for a box of £5 screws , apparently I was passing that way, I kid you not …I rang to double check that a mistake had not been made but was told the customer was desperate and spends a lot of money, there was a hardware store 3 miles away …
jessicas dad:
couldnt they just buy the fence panels from b&q
They were solid metal site hoarding panels that the already owned. However if they’d sold them down there and not spent nearly £600 bringing them back to a storage yard they would be a good way towards some in decent condition and not fit for scrap.
Yesterday from wakey to notts (normal part of run), then to Oakham with a 450 x 600mm radiator (stock order) then to Hinckley with a gas fire that Notts/West mids branches could supply. I reckoned 26 litres of fuel for those 2 drops to make less than a tenner. Then this morning I got told off for leaving truck idling for 5 minutes .
Steed007:
I was sent 114 miles with a 44 ton artic to a store with 1 cage on it!
And then you probably started crying in the office because you are overworked and tired and feared for the safety of
all around you. And the waste of fuel that could safeguard 1000’s of jobs.

Fixed that for you!
I don’t think steed would be too concerned about that
Not so much a pointless load more of a pointless journey caused by H&S ■■■■■■■■.
A few weeks ago I was sent to a site about 40 miles from depot and all I was there to do was stick the hiab up in the air over a cabin so our fitter had somewhere to attatch a safety line while he done a repair. He did’nt even need to go on the roof.
