I thought it was the cost of something I cant afford.

Price On Application

it is a right pain in the arse when trying to find the right truck at the right price :smiling_imp:

You people who think POA is useless just haven’t found a good enough reason for it to exist. It’s like slagging off a person you’ve never met before.

And there is a good reason for it to exist, its so your boss can measure when you are not working/working, not having a break and you are indeed on standby waiting to go. I can slag people off who i have never met before tho’, very easily, not saying its right, but it just falls off my tongue almost like its facts !!!

You took a certain phrase right out my mouth :stuck_out_tongue: In a lot of cases, POA isn’t needed…true…but I had a lecture once when I ended up having to take a second break because I used break instead of POA, effectively costing the company an extra 45 minutes.

It is legalised slavery, it means you can work for 15 hours but the boss only pays you for 11.

If he pays you from clocking on to clocking off, there is no need for POA

I’ve never come across this before.

If he pays you from clocking on to clocking off

This is what I’ve always known

:S

If you’re not being paid for it you’d be daft to be on POA imo :open_mouth:

How would VOSA view it, if they pulled you anf there was no POA booked at all ?

They would think you were a very hard worker

The best definition of POA is a pause button its main function is to keep drivers under the average 48hr weekly working rule.

My company only pays for a 1 hour break per day extending to 90 minutes if i go into 10 hours driving. So i cant use break in RDC’s so it has to be POA. We are not all in coffeholic shoes when he can leave it on break for hours at a time and nobody nips his head, i would get my head nipped if i used break over POA.

Without POA i couldn’t work red circle shifts(overtime).

I get paid weather its on POA or not, i dont get why people get their knickers in a twist over it. The only fault is that it resets driving time when it shouldn’t but there is a way around that.

They wouldn’t bat an eyelid. Why would they? You can quite easily go through a shift and not be in a position to book any POA because you don’t know the duration of any waiting times in advance. Despite the nonsense some companies and TM’s come out with there is no requirement under the EU Driver’s Hours or WTD regulations to book it.

I never book poa and I got stopped about 6 months ago and nothing was said, its none of their business.

If I worked for a company who worried about stuff like that I would leave. Break and POA are near enough the same thing, you are sitting on your arse doing nothing, so why would a company care what mode it is on? That’s just being picky for the sake of it.

I have never ever used POA and never had a problem with the authorities. If I’m stopped and it’s not other work it goes on break.

As said above! POA is for employers who are paranoid about staying within the 48hour weekly average! It’s a break so put it on break! :grimacing:

POA has no reason to exist in my opinion.

Your either working or your not. If you are sat on your arse doing nothing/reading the paper/chatting/watching TV for whatever reason then it should just be recorded as a rest from working - why complicate matters?

Because you are available for work, if you were on a break you would say " clear off I’m on a 45 " if your on POA then you just say " no problem mate I’m on a period of availability "
