Regarding chris beale I heard was working for Virgina ireland but has since stopped driving due to ill health.

Chris Beal worked for me many years ago before he moved to York .He drove a Leyland Roadtrain then a C reg 142 for Plowmans at Sutton on the Forest, he also drove for Machins at Brandsby on a wagon and drag did a lot of lambs down to Marshalls of Lamberhurst. He worked for Ray Cole (Virginia Transport) in Eire for many years prior to his retirement due to ill health

I also worked with Chris for a few years when we drove for Mick Lambert (Lambert international) at Dunchurch,it was always a laugh a minute running with Chris and yot never went hungry when he was cooking

Can anyone remember Ploughmans from York cattle and Fridge lorries.

they had a couple of Dafs 2800, 3300 and 3600 a few scania’s and Leyland roadtrain.

I last heard they sold out to a Dutch company?

Seem to recall Ploughmans doing some subbing for UFO at Dewsbury. Plain white trucks with name and logo in orange and black IIRC.

think you mean Plowman Brothers - don’t know much about them except we bought one of their old Trailor tilts in the late 80s, not much use as information goes I dare say? :blush:

we both worked for albert hymas in harrogate he went on to work for emsley crane hire,he had a very bad bike accident about 2 years ago but thankfully he was on the mend and back to work after 18 months
