I just don’t get the mentality of drivers both car and truck.
Going into work the other night and the amount of people still playing with their phones then whilst heading up the M1 round Jn 25 Mr DHL is either tired, pithed, playing with himself or his phone,
Yep he’s playing with his phone, I don’t think he liked being given the Gareth Hunt shake .
Mr DHL if you happen to be on here, your phone pos the larger of the iPhone family or other larger mobiles is easy to spot at night even if you try to hide it…
You might as well have a 60in plasma tv in the cab …
Seen a good few truckers with phones watching stuff either placed on the glass around the speedo area or in a cradle. Passed a Maritime driver the other week who was doing just that.
Funny that I passed a maritime drive just chilling on his phone texting or whatever while driving down the m4 today, was on it for ages as well. I had a good look as was in the passenger seat. Just leave it alone and don’t kill anyone. I’m no health and safety ■■■■ by any means but it leaves a poor image of professional drivers.
With a lot of companies now, drivers are literally risking instant dismissal for the sake of checking Facebook…
Firm I work for does the same. It just isn’t worth it.
I find it incredible that some folk still think its worth risking an accident, killing some innocent joe, or being sacked just for the sake of fiddling with a poxy phone! Have some self control FFS.
Fact of the matter is though, until the punishment is more severe, nothing will change!

I know of 2 drivers who’ve been sacked from your place for using their phone and 1 of them got grassed up by a member of the public it really ain’t worth it .

How bloody true. It should be a compulsory six (at least) ban and a huge fine. Having said that, who’s out there to catch the ■■■■■ ?
Had one this morning on m62,we went under the m1 at lofthouse in the two lane bit,but he then stayed in the middle lane when it went back to 3 lanes, speed constantly changing from 50 down to 40,in the end I undertook him (I know I shouldn’t) and he is there holding his phone up in front of his face,I blew my horn moved in to lane 2 then back to lane 1 and he still sat there,it’s a growing problem…

Bald bloke, what proof did the member of the public provide along with his complaint??
I wouldn’t get too wound up about it, your annoyance will have little effect on them. If you see one as you approach the best course of action is to get out of harms way, pass em, or drop back to where their actions will have no effect on you

There are many posts on here discussing phone use at the wheel. I’ve said before that it’s pandemic. I’m really not one for stitching drivers up but I’m sorry, on this issue, any driver caught watching videos on his phone or face booking needs to lose their license.
Let me ask the driver using his phone this question: your wife and loved ones are taken out by the clown behind them whilst he’s on his phone, what would your response be?
There was a high profile case only a few weeks ago where a mother and her kids were killed when an agency driver ploughed into them.
I’ll say it again as I’ve said before, we have got to condemn this practice and come down seriously hard on these brain dead arrogant tossers!!

I agree totally with what you are saying, but what is the difference between killing innocent people whilst using your phone or driving a vehicle with obvious, potentially dangerous, defects, that the driver should be aware of?

None he/she just phoned up to complain about what he saw and the driver admitted it !!!

Thing is ALL the trucks we have have got built in hands free capability so there’s no excuse.
I think company insurers should do what IAM Surety has done for advanced drivers - refuse to insure any driver who has been convicted for mobile phone use
After all - not a lot of difference in the general driving skills of advanced and LGV/PCV drivers
Most saddo’s who phone in to grass drivers up have already filmed the indiscretion on THEIR mobile phone.
Everyone’s a bloody journalist hero these day’s, so there is little point in denying it because surely the first question your gaffer will ask the grass will be " Do you have any proof? "…only takes a few seconds to email the footage through.
i think anyone watching videos on their phone is completely stupid and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law that they havent invented yet…theres plenty of cheap dvd /tv combo players that you can fix on the top locker,or behind the bunk to be able to conveniently watch it in the mirror or by sitting back relaxing and glancing up …that way if your watching some quality ■■■■ of a quiet evening in lane 1 or 2,then your 2 mates can come up on the cruise each side of you for a peek as well…

Blokes an idiot then in more ways than 1, first for being on his phone and second, holding his hands up when it would have been a case of one persons word against the other
