He don’t pay, that’s why He’s sick of sleeping in lay by’s.
His boss is more likely to react if he loses a shed load of diesel, or a valued customers goods, than worry about where his driver might have a ■■■■

Good parking does not come for free I’m afraid.
I know lads whose boss pays parking but still park in lay bys etc because they won’t stump up the cost until pay day for expenses to be paid back.
A petition for more sucure reasonably priced parking with good facilities would be better
wouldn’t it be better to force the companies that charge to have to provide a level of security and facilities as a minimum.

Campaign and petition as much as you like, its a nice thought, but nothing in this world is free.and no one is going to give free parking where there are facilities…you have to travel abroad for that, but you wont get it in the uk.

That’s is almost certainly the truth
My boss wont pay parking, i knew that when i accepted the job. Its getting beyond a joke trying to find somewhere to park especially when your parking up at night all the free places are taken. And all the industrial estates are painting double yellow lines etc. If it gets 100000 votes then it has to be debated in parliment. There are more than that truckers and family members. If european countries will provide free parking solutions why wont the UK? We get treated like crap in this country.
Good idea in principle, but how do you expect places like the Stockyard, Red Lion or Orwell to operate for free? You’re only going to get free parking in ■■■■ hole services. I fear good truck stops will go skint
Nice idea, but who’s going to pay for it? You can’t expect truckstops to operate relying on fuel/food sales, whilst having to upkeep a parking area, and cleaning up all the ■■■■ and rubbish left by scruffy ■■■■■■■■■
MSAs charge far too much, but that’s another argument completely.
If your boss wont pay…a few parking tickets to the office may make him see that its better to pay for parking…or a few repairs to the cuts in the curtains…or maybe 300 litres of diesel that gets stolen may also make him see sense.

While I don’t have much knowledge or experience, and I don’t tramp. Isn’t it more a case of us needing more parking stops in general and not being held to ransom in MSA’s?

Soz. What I ment was Park in the services where you have toilets etc but don’t pay. The boss will either pay the ridiculous amount invoiced or not.

Spot on and in LALA land another petition has been started stating that all haulage should be free and have semi competent drivers who don’t keep losing loads, hitting bridges and rear ending stationary and slow moving vehicles 
It won’t happen I’m afraid no amount or petitioning is going to help that, problem is the MSAs are all private land.
With regards to the earlier posts, my boss will happily pay parking, I carry a float for parking/tolls/anything else I need, do I park in services, no, luckily I transport end of life (insurance write off) vehicles so nothing really worth nicking apart from my diesel, I’ve only been tramping just over a year but it hasn’t been nicked yet, much prefer a quite layby/industrial estate, at least then I’m not paying to park in a ■■■■ soaked truck park (even if it’s not my money it’s just the principle behind it)

Our place will pay for parking but it comes under expenses which are always paid in arrears. We use SNAP so we try to get to a site located as close as possible to our drops. I like Extra MSA’s because they accept SNAP, never had a problem in an Extra MSA.
never happen,too much money involved for people who own the land truckstops are on,if a truckstop has 100 spaces at say £25 a night[I cant really say about the price as I am a day driver home every night] the truckstop is looking at £2500 a night,do you really think they are going to turn that down

Good parking does come free, bad parking costs over £25 a night and includes odour de ■■■■, flip flops banging there doors every 2 seconds and running there engine for 20 minutes every 21 minutes, food that should be classed as unfit for human consumption, people who are happy to fit air con to ur trailer by cutting ur curtains. Bit of a rip off Tbh
