Peterborough open day - free

Nice to meet you and your staff Pete, I also very much enjoyed the arctic, thanks very much.

I was there this morning and had a go at driving and reversing the artic. Was a great experience as I previously hadn’t thought I’d be able to do it decently after that awful experience with Coates in May. I did it first time, it was almost as easy as in the drawbar I passed in. I had been due to do some class 1 jobs this past week (in the event, one was downgraded to class 2 and the other two were cancelled) and had been rather apprehensive about coupling and reversing (not about the actual driving). Would have liked a bit more time and to have been allowed to uncouple and recouple, but it was still worth the trip (from south London). The instructor was Nick, quite a friendly guy, and the truck gave quite a smooth ride (unlike the Coates artic which was a manual 55-plate Axor). I’ll be confident about going into a class 1 job now.

top day very well organsised, Thanks for the play in the big bendy thing it has reassured me that everything I learnt on the wagon and drag is transferrable without too much difficulty, plus a good friend of mine came down this afternoon with his son and he is keen as mustard to get going in fact I think he is signed up for the starter pack in the not too distant future. I just hope it was a successful day for the business as I know Dave gets bored if he is not worked into the ground :grimacing:
thanks again

Great comments, thanks. We have had nothing but positive feedback. Indigo would have been able to have more time if it hadn’t been so busy.

Nice to meet the folks behind the names.

It’s been a really good day - and thanks to all the Trucknetters who supported it.

Massive apologies to those who had to wait longer than I intended - the event surpassed our expectations.

Hi

Just a quickie thanks for letting me have a play I must admit I preferred the artic
Seems a bit more natural to move around / reverse at least once I’d put it in reverse lol

Hopefully be seeing you soon

hi Pete

Great day…good to meet you and some other truckers like Mark from stockport and I think colin who wants to be coach driver…anyway…the day was great and gave me every confidence in lots of things.

  1. Driving Arctic is 100% what I am going to do after passing rigid
  2. I also had a go in Rigid and reversed back in one go…I couldn’t even see the marker Dave was telling me about.

and
3. Pete Smythe training is the one for me…really great to meet Tracy and Rosina also.

shame there was not time to have a go on Wag and Drag but that’s is later anyway

Thanks you so much Pete and your team for organising the day…I hope it helps drum up business and I think it would be good if you did it again…

cheers - Rob…by the way after speaking to you Pete…have tried changing my username back to my name but can’t do it lol

Amazing how far folks travelled today. I think the furthest north was from Stockport and the furthest south was Poole. Some from Norfolk and from further north on the east coast. And, of course, a good contingent from Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire.

Next time (yes, we’ll do it again) we’ll have more vehicles and more trainers to reduce waiting time and be able to spend a bit longer with each person.

Thanks again to all who supported the event, Pete

Reckon I must have been the most local to the place only being about 5 miles away.

Massive thanks to Pete & the team for putting on the day and allowing me to finally decide what to do about training independently or on the job.

Not sure the Mother-in-law will go for the training (but she did love the experience or driving the Man) but her fella will be looking to get his Cat C at least asap. Today clinched it for him.

just a big thank you from the poole contingent, we had a brilliant day which took away any doubts wayne had about the forth coming training. and he loved the artic trial, his daughter ashliegh thought it was a very good day and we should do it again someday.

It was a pleasure to meet you and have a chat. Really pleased the journey was worthwhile; thanks for making the effort to support the event.
