I deliver/collect skips into Doncaster at times, the place is certainly an appetite suppressant.

i will be loading out of Nuneaton on Monday. most of the tallow goes in to bio diesel these day some also goes for medical use and the good stuff in to soap

Pay is pretty good and the kit is down to the truck being (owner/driver). Where theres muck theres money.

It concerns me that Secanim are getting away with the transportation of PDM Putrid Dead Matter through residential areas of Exeter on their way to the J L Thomas plant. The contents of these lorries is not only Putrid it is also contaminated.Makes me wonder if they are transporting BSE infected spinal cords along with all the rotting animal waste!.Its not just the stench that residents have to put up with, there have been several spillages of putrid liquid in the past few years. Not to mention the air quality, you dare not open your windows if you are near the road,it is truly Gut Wrenching.Any spillage from these lorries is a dangerous hazard on the road and could result in someone accidentally becoming infected and the result could be DEATH!
The company rave on about how much money they are investing(90 million) across the UK but they live in the dark ages when it comes to their transport containers. The UK and the European Union seem to be out of touch with the issues surrounding the transportation of this type of waste or is it just the UK that gets away with it!
I contacted all the Government Agencies after one spillage and not one of them have it in their remit to deal with the problem,in the end they put me in touch with Trading Standards, what a joke that turned out to be!Every driver out there could one day find themselves involved in an accident with one of these containers full of Putrid Dead Matter and would have to suffer the consequences while the government looks the other way.
All i get is that they are in compliance with the terms of their licence Well then its about time the tightened up on the terms!

My reply to that is if you think animal guts or (Fat and Bone) as we call it smells wait until you get a lorry come passed with Category one offal on then you will know what a proper smell is like.
Please contact SarVal at either Silvertown or Nuneaton if this is an issue.

You forgot the children. Won’t somebody think about the children? ?

We try out best with the smell and improvemts have been made a lot from 20 years ago for instance we now have to run with a sheet over our trailers to try and stop the smell. People complain the smell is bad for you but infact it’s a smell that is good for you and doesn’t effect you in any way it’s a little like country air.

At least someone hasn’t mentioned the dead donkey yet…oops.

I used to go into DeMulders when it was in the Council yard in St Marys Rd in Nuneaton before they invested in Hartshill, when it was known in the trade as Joes
Marcel DeMulder used to collect from the Zoos and he occasionally had a donkey to get rid of but his Dad Joe barred him from taking donkeys in because every time he sneaked one in the plant broke down. Remember when Joe was down in the "bone bay" the lads had a bit of a laugh when they put Joes mac and trilby on an ape /gorilla and shout down to him that somebody was there to see him,the look on his face was a picture.

I forgot the children trying to keep it simple. Its the kids that are most likely to suffer from the consequences of a spill

Sheets to try to stop the smell!are you joking The sheets were bought in to stop the carcasses from falling of the top of the pile.I can remember seeing lorries with body parts hanging over the side.Who in their right mind would have thought a sheet would contain the stench!.

How can you say that the stench from these lorries is good for you.It might be good for you but i don’t want it in my lungs. How can you state “it is good for you” on what evidence?
Show me the scientific proof that it is good for and has no adverse effects on long term health!
What little bit of the stench is like country air?Glad i don’t have to breath the same country air that you do.

Hmmm, here’s an idea…

If you don’t like the smell of rotting carcasses, don’t buy a house near a rendering plant :bulb:

Taking into account the route the lorries take to and from the J L Thomas plant in Exeter and considering that the council get complaints about the Stench from around a mile away from the plant,by local residents, that locks out about 8 square miles of our lovely city that is available for Stench free living accommodation.
People come first on this planet not the interests of industry and its time that our city was rid of this rendering plant that is situated along side our historic canal in an area of parkland that is used daily by hundreds of people. You guys just dont get it do you. Exeter is my home and i want to enjoy it and i as one should not have to put up with the Stench! We are no longer living in the Dark Ages and its time that Secanim found a new site and invested some of its £ Millions in relocating to a more suitable location!!!

The smell may not be nice but it’s good for your lungs. ■■■■ it up and get on with it because I can assure you the plant won’t be moving! Call SarVal if it’s that much of a problem! I’m sure the plant has been there as long if not longer than the houses

You really should get your lungs checked out! not to mention your support for this appalling Stench. I am afraid your assurance that “the plant wont be moving” can only be regarded as “hot air”.Time and people power will be the decider on this and not the thoughts of someone stuck in the DARK AGES.

Do not do Nimby Meetings. I do what i do of my own back.Seems your another one of the Dark Age SHEEP.
No Doubt you would prefer to live in a polluted/contaminated world where wearing gas masks would be the norm.Wake up and get a life!.
