Pay rises

Well we all know what we’ve had last few years , what about this year , I’m getting apparently 5% ( 1 ph ) , nothing else , I’ve just brought myself a new pair of boots £17.99, and 2 new fred Perry’s £12 , so that’s nigh on 1 weeks pay rise gone
So what are we expecting , got ( be kind , don’t upset me with more paid holidays , sick pay from day 1 ) let’s just stick to % pay rise / ph

I have three agencies that supply to where I am now, two have lowered the rates they charge to get the work, so I am guessing that their blokes will get nothing extra this year. A large local fleet has given 3% rise to all staff including drivers.

Now the driver shortage has been alleviated for the moment I can’t see many people getting much.

Must admit I was surprised to get a pay rise of any description , I thought work had picked up of late though , shifts have gone back upto 15 hrs where was getting a fair few 10,s , 12 ,s which was nice while it lasted

13.5% for me all in all.

A big fat zero% from our lot, one of the biggest hauliers in Europe.
Absolutely disgusted and so glad I only have a few more months before I retire.

I think we get 3% but thinking about it,once the shortage is over, the wages will be stagnant,or worse still, maybe some company will undercut and then we end up back at square one

Rather than chasing the (inflated) top rates , the saffy driver would have found a better (recession proof) job with longer term security and conditions.

I’ve noted how there seem to be a lot of Supermarket and parcel/pallet trailers being pulled by General haulage units. Is general haulage work starting to dry up, due to the economy going south?

The run up to Christmas is going to be interesting :sunglasses:

Just been reading the UK is set for the worst pay rises of all G7 countries :open_mouth: todaynewspost.com/news/world/uk … port-says/

Pay parity should ensure that they get the equivalent pay rates of the staff drivers

Perhaps this will get the wheels moving ?

And when firms give pay pay rises, you know what comes after them, redundancies.

Really? Hasn’t happened where I work, we got 10% overnight in November, plus negotiating another increase now, union already rejected 6% but we have had a 100% increase in night allowance.

Good luck tezza, I’ve been counting down over the last few years……10 years 6 months to go.

We got 4% in April.

That’s really sad! Wishing your life away.

Hope you make it that long.

8%

16% last year & 7% last month

Ours worked out at 9.8 % so I’m happy with that.

Just Knocked back first offer. Should get between 5-7% but that would take us close to £60k for a 4 day week so can’t complain. Still, with the price of energy bills, food, fuel etc it’s still essentially getting a pay decrease but there’s obviously worse positions to be in, so count myself lucky to be honest.

Don’t forget you’ll need to earn that much more to actually take it home, given 60 grand puts you in the higher tax bracket…
