seems this CPC could be a good thing at the moment, just had a text this morning saying from an agency I worked for that as from Monday the rates will be 13 pounds an hour,if you do a twelve hour day, thats just over 37,000 per annum [I think] less tax and ins,so not bad but how long will it last,i know the agencies are panicking now as we have had a rise in the last week at the agency where I work, but how long will it last,
Yet another CPC thread.

Yet another CPC thread.
Only because you’ve decided it is.
As usual with these thieves and gangsters the rate quoted is likely to be the Sunday rate or a contract they claim to have where nobody ever gets a shift at.
Ask what the actual hourly rate is, no more than a tenner I suspect.

no disrespect intended but why reply if you don’t like what I put,i am just saying that the rates at the moment are going up because of the CPC which can only be a good thing for drivers who have it [I take it you do,if not I understand why you replied,if not then whos fault is that]

And what was wrong with adding to one of the other thousand threads on the same topic over the very recent past?

No disrespect intended but how can you be so sure that the apparent rate rise is due to the DcPC? It’s September tomorrow and many companies are building up their driver resource in advance of the Christmas volume increase. There is also no certainty that any apparent rise will materialise as, like every supply and demand system, if there are more drivers than jobs the rates will go down. If there is stock stuck in warehouses because the lorry has no driver rates will go up.
I have my DQC but have not had an pay increase because of it, I do have the tools to continue earning my living as a vocational driver past September 9th (or whenever the required date is).

I caught the agency with their pants down, I told them my rates were going up to x, y and z. I then get an email back saying they were already in discussion with customers about increasing rates post dcpc and they would get back to me.
I refused to work for them as I was offered more elsewhere and miraculously the phone rang offering me what I asked for “In the meantime”
Infact, they even started the new rate 3 weeks earlier than I said they were increasing from.
I’ve had a rate increase but hours cut so I’m no better off, they aren’t stupid you guys, it won’t last long me thinks, I can’t even find a perm job:(

I agree, especially the perm job part
Is the reason “they won’t last long” regarding rate rises - because there is suddenly going to be a massive takeup of DCPC training by those who’ve already decided to walk away?
Isn’t that a bit presumptious?
I understand the official “drop out” rate is one in ten drivers. This amounts to “decimation” in true Roman style.
I can’t see it being possible to replace those missing thousands “with new talent” over just a few weeks hence…
If the rates rise, and then an agency tries to cut them back when the work slackens off a bit - the drivers on that agency already will up sticks, and go to the one that’s still paying top dollar.
This, will also be the agency with the most work and biggest contracts, and therefore the most demand for drivers.
I’ve always said that “supply and demand” should be left to decide what the rate is…
My big wonder is “how long can an agency last that’s losing money, AND drivers at the same time?”
There’s too many of them owned by large outfits that are probably using them as a tax loss on their international books. This would include Manpower & TRG I hasten to add…Consequently, they’ll be able to cut their rates better than most other agencies - because their holding firms don’t give a ■■■■ how much they lose - just to rig the market for them in other areas…
That was a party political broadcast on behalf of the conspiracy party.
Most of the tipper and skip firms where i am have upped wages in recent months and are strugling to get decent drivers for permenant jobs.

Yes that money sounds about right but remember you won’t get it every week but let’s take a moment to think about things ? Driver CPC, I want to thank everybody that had anything at all to do with introducing it because what did it mean to me ? Before all this I was earning about £8.75 ph for nights ( not a lot I bet compared to some of you chaps ) but we made a life and got on with it like you do. So I got a call from the agency 3 weeks ago who I’ve been with for a long time now - by choice because it works for me - and they informed me that as of week commencing 8thSept 2014 my hourly rate is to become £12.75 ph for nights with the overtime still at time and a half after 8 hours and double time starting midnight on a saturday night. I didn’t believe them and asked for it to be written down, so they did and I now have a contract as well for 3 years. I’ve never had a right lot of money even though I’ve driven wagons for 30 years so in my case I just like to say Thanks to DSA / VOSA /GOVERNMENT PEOPLE or whoever you are for introducing DCPC and giving me the chance to earn a lot more money than I’ve ever had in my life.
The same opportunity was missed with the WTD introduction John due to all the stupid drivers who complained they’d no longer be able to work 80hrs a week so couldn’t earn a living wage.
I think the DCPC is a good thing for several issues, drivers walking away from the job giving the chance for the decent ones left to earn some decent money for once being one of them.
Well I feel the poor relation here ( trucknet) ,I read of all these drivers getting given all this extra money from all these companies ,13 p.h,£25 per day more etc,etc and I’ve not been offered a penny more ,even though we’ve not got enough drivers ,makes you wonder where these companies have found all this spare cash too throw about like confetti, lots are saying they’ve not even asked for it,they’ve just rung them up and told them there paying them x amount of £ ,s p.h extra .
I thought all these companies were a load away from going out of buisness ,just about keeping there heads above water ,obviously not .
All very strange
Sometimes people fear when squeezing by the nuts - getting stung by the hairs which they think are stinging nettles, full of poison on barbs…
In reality, you squeeze, and gain encouragement from the screaming - NOT get put off by it!
One of my main customers can’t keep agency staff for some reason
I didn’t think customers “kept” agency staff in the first place?
