PAY CUT

James the cat:
I wouldn’t wait too long teacher. I don’t have to do your homework to justify that i’m not a socialist. I just wouldn’t mind if you stopped. Sorry!

And, it’s not because of any argument to do with your topical application of houses and the socialising of the houses. Do you accuse anyone who takes issue with your ways on trucknet, of being a socialist :grimacing: ? I might try that on the peelers.

No I just state the bleedin obvious on an if the cap fits wear it basis. In this case the difference between a Socialists and a Capitalist is if you want to help those ‘less fortunate’ then give them a well paid job that lets them look after themselves. Not try to subsidise low wage employment with handouts. As to the question wether £600 pw is enough to do that the OP obviously doesn’t think so. :bulb:

come on, 600 quid a week is enough to live on without expecting handouts aint it?? i was at my local builders yard today, travis perkins, minimum wage they were not moaning. if you live in london then maybe you need more, you have made yourself look a bit of a ■■■ moaning about it all mate there are a lot of drivers wish they were on 30 g a year, brain mouth engage, you follow…

robroy:

Carryfast:
Great so ‘if’ you’re supposedly paying the ‘full private market going rate’ then there’s no need for social housing and we can do what I said knock the whole social ( socialist ) housing programme on the head and the state funded budget that is currently paying for it.Then there will be no arguments. :bulb: :unamused:

Carryfast mate, if you are trying to push my buttons, you are succeeding.
Is it just me? The words ‘private market’ were not used by me.
Have you forgotten already? I’m (in your eyes) the sponger who lives in a council house. I pay and have paid, the full going rate for that council house, of which I have no say or control as far as the amount goes.
It is lower than renting a house from a private landlord admittedly, but if for any reason the rent increased in line with the private sector, then I would continue to pay what they required.
If you have a problem with that, even though it has [zb] all to do with you anyway,…at the end of the day I couldn’t give a rat’s ■■■.

You’re saying ‘if’ they increased your rent in line with the private sector then you’d have no problem with that. While I’m saying let’s knock state social housing provision/subsidies on the head at least for those in work and in a position to provide for themselves in the form of income protection insurance.IE you’re arguing about my point when you’ve actually agreed with what I’ve said.

Just as I wouldn’t have had any objection to Thatcher’s sell off of social housing.Just so long as the buyers paid the full private market value for them.Rather than what actually happened in the form of selling them off at a state subsidised discount to their tenants. Many of who then flogged them off at a state subsidised personal profit on the private market. So the obvious question is do you agree or disagree and if you agree what the zb are you moaning about concerning what I’ve said. :unamused:

James the cat:

Conor:
Its not seen as scrounging to live in one, its seen as disgusting to have a good income, live in one with a low rent because its supposed to be for those in need, to then complain just because you’re now expected to pay the going rate because you’re on good money but rather than do that and provide more money to the council to help other people out, instead ask for a pay cut to get out of paying the extra.

Bloody hell. I think this is actually a fair and balanced comment. It’s even got considering the needs of those less fortunate in it. What’s happened to you Conor?! I agree with one of your posts. Fairly said.

GET REAL it aint rocket science is it 1p saves me 70 quid max a week I NEVER MADE THE RULES but if you can HONESTLY say no one else on here including yourself would not do this !!! hmmmmmm :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

The topic is actually an argument concerning ‘the rules’.

On one side being tightened to the point where all social housing benefits,at least for those in work, are knocked on the head and abolished to be replaced by wage increases.

As opposed to relaxing ‘the rules’ to the point where those earning £600 pw get state funded housing benefits. :unamused:

However ‘if’ you were to say that you agree with the former ‘but’ £600 pw might arguably not be enough to comfortably afford housing costs leaving a decent disposable income then I’d propably agree with you. :bulb:

“The facts” are that the rules have not yet been written. A single figure of £30k has been given, but nowhere has it been stated how this will be implemented. I doubt very much that it will be a simple case of switching from subsidised “social housing” rents to “open market” rents as soon as your income exceeds £29,999.99, since to do so would lead to just the sort of silliness outlined in the root message in this topic.

I thought you lived in the 14th floor :stuck_out_tongue:

Quite, I have a (very) small flat for work purposes in an area which is comfortably within daily commuting distance of London and all you will find for that money are tiny ground-floor one-bedrooms adjacent to a main road. I know this because that’s exactly the place I have.

Of course, in places like Stoke you’d probably get a five-bedroom mansion with a swimming pool and tennis court for that money.

anyone who voluntarily leaves a better paid job to get less pay and more benifits shouldnt get the benifits simples

Well do it then. You’re right, it’s the rules. You get a reaction because you came on here whining about it rather instead of keeping quiet admitting to yourself you’ve had it well rent wise and are open to adjusting your income to keep it good to avoid popping over the threshold to join normal rent bands some of us have to pay.

Long shot sympathy plight failed, see you’ve now tried the charm offensive :unamused: . Gobshiting. Must remember that one.

He said he’s on ‘£600 home’. I took that to mean in the bank.

Olog Hai:
He said he’s on ‘£600 home’. I took that to mean in the bank.

Where did he say that? He’s said (several times) that he’s on 46 hours a week Mon-Fri, home every night for 600 quid. He’s also said a couple of times that he takes home £475 or £482 a week.

I’m in the same boat as the op, although I have a family to support. I think there’s a few myths to dispel about social housing. Firstly it’s not subsidised rent, or below market rent, as social and private are two different markets. Take my place, built in the 60s, and even with inflation it’s been bought and paid for about 4 times over. It’s all a vicious circle. Council housing used to be for the working families who couldn’t afford a mortgage, to give them half a chance at living a decent life. Nowadays it seems societies view is only the pond scum should have them. What’s my alternative then? I can’t buy as the cheapest 3 bed house in within 50 miles of me is 140k. The biggest mortgage I can get is 110, so I’d need a pretty big sofa to find 30k behind it. And I was in private accommodation, and our landlord died, his son sold the house, and we ended up in social housing. Now I have an assured tenancy and I wouldn’t give it up for anything
