Think of it from a young working couples viewpoint .
They 20 both live with their mum . both get minimum wage .
They want to live together in a 1 bed flat .
Estate sgent will charge them £500/month rent . £600 deposit . £250 fees .
I think thats typical cost : £1350 to move in .
Housing Association would charge them £90/week rent and £90 deposit . no fees .£180 to move in .
In 3 years they will have grafted and saved and can afford to rent in private sector .
But of course they cant because a bunch of lardarses are blocking the housing system , when they are perfectly affluent enough to rent privately

Typical Tory policy, the redistribution of wealth from the bottom to the top. Why should I make a rich private landlord richer? The key problem here are the extortionate and unrealistic rents demanded by the private sector. Sort that out and there’s no need for forced evictions and ethnic cleansing.
Its not in my power to do that , as much as id love to .
Im talking about the situation as it exists now , and how it can reasonably be reformed .
We just need to clear out the selfish ■■■■■ who are blocking the system , when they are perfectly capable of paying rent like the vast majority of people do .

The situation IS easy to resolve. Cap the rents private landlords can charge, making them realistic and affordable.

Agreed, Tory policy to the letter, make the rich richer by making the poor poorer.
Most private sector rents bear no resemblance to reality, poor value for money at best, and bordering on extortion at worst. A better solution would be finding and/or creating work for the feckless fraternity that live rent free, those who drain and abuse the system as a matter of choice and routine, not penalise genuine rent paying council tenants who are that for whatever reason.

But if private rents were more realistic, the demand for social housing wouldn’t be so high.
Whether it’s single mothers, immigrants, the unemployed or those in social housing, governments need a section of society to blame for THEIR failings. Stop reading The Daily Mail, wake up and see the big picture.

wow this has to be a wind up? so the likes of my gran who has raised her family in her home should be kicked out as there is only 2 people their now, despite the fact in the 50+ years she has lived there she has probably paid the amount it cost to build it in the first place. just because you think someone is more deserving or fits the bill better by having spread her legs a few times.

She should not be kicked out .

If she is over accommadated then she should be moved to something suitable .

why, why should she be made to leave her family home which she has had for over 50 years because it suits someone else? she has neighbours/friends/family in the immediate area, why should she be ‘assessed’ and moved to a flat so someone else can take over her home.
its like me saying because I have 2 other children I should be upgraded to a 4 bed house as if they come and visit they haven’t got their own rooms.
