Hi Dean theses photos are excellent the ARC Leyland bulker is from borough green in kent I will be at the classic truck show tomorrow at Gaydon in warwickshire so hoping to have a great weekend away lets hope the whether stays good for us well chat soon many thanks for posting all the good pics again i love the blue daf tippper which is cracker Regards Darren

20 mpg (about 14 litres / 100 kms) is certainly very good. That was the consumption of my 2001 Range-Roger P 38.

It’s a fact that there was a time when my late brother would bring his 3 x boys down to London from Huntingdon in his Commer at the weekend to see granny and grandad on the basis that;

  1. the boys loved the ride in dad’s lorry
  2. it was cheaper on fuel than his 3.3 Vauxhall Cresta

Hi Dean, Remember seeing this Leyland about back in the mid eighties but not sure who it belonged to, maybe Fall and Carter of Ferndown.

Thanks for the possible name “steam”. We have had a few of Fall & Carter motors on here. Is that Dennis Fall ? I dont know who Carter was. :wink:

Good morning, re: HS Williams I believe that back in the day they operated from a yard which was situated in Whitchurch just past Truckers ( if it’s still called that ) heading towards Ross. The garage I believe was opposite the pub which is still there. After that the yard was on the old road and part of it could be seen on the right just before Truckers

There were a few people that popped fullers in Volvo’s and Scania’s Eric. :wink: Could be wrong but i think you could have a fuller

The Australians converted all sorts of stuff for there market. Look at the Scammell Contractors which they converted into 8 wheelers. :smiley:

Dean the Volvo is indeed one of Roy Charrett’s who used to park in Loraines lorry park in Southampton and did mostly OCL container haulage, most of the fleet was older volvo’s, Buzzer.

I may be miles out here but I think the Carters Ford Transcontinental is from Sawley or Long Eaton Derbyshire,they made soft drinks.

Hi all,
Spoke with my old mate Paul East today,His dad drove for Ross Roadways for years,Apparently Ross bought H.S.Williams around 1982,kept two lorries and the work.Ran with two company names from then onwards…
