Buzzer, I presume you mean where is it registered as it appears to be a Maggie, thus built in Germany. I reckon it was registered in Switzerland or Italy. Other nations have used a similar registration layout but I think the two countries named are the most likely.

It appears to be right hand drive. That does not really help us a several of the countries I have not mentioned also drove on the left in years gone by!

If only I could read the sign on the door…

Some operators in those mountainous countries specced right hand drive despite driving on the right to give better visibility of the road edges on mountain passes.

Hey,
I’m not sure if it is right hand drive, never seen that in Germany, but don’t think other countries as Germany before WW II did not have such big trucks with 2 trailers.
They all drove for the German Reichsbahn ( Railway company DRB ).

I think I can just about make out the steering wheel through the windscreen making it left hand drive.

It looks very much like the steering is right hand on the Magirus (not unusual even back then), certainly looks like a steering wheel when enlarged although that wouldn’t explain the guy standing by the opposite door if he is the driver. Magirus of Ulm, Germany was absorbed by Klockner Deutz in 1938 but the vehicles still only showed the large M and spire motif of Ulm Cathedral for many years afterwards. This design was 1930’s but didn’t change much until the 50’s when the bonnets became rounded. Magirus also built their own engines until changing to the Deutz air cooled types early 1940’s, they were more well known for Fire Fighting vehicles and telescopic ladders, we had a Magirus 80ft Turntable ladder fitted to an Iveco at Tyne and Wear, it was quite a job changing the ‘ropes’ every five years on the ladder and ensuring they run equally, the Aerial Ladder Platforms that came after the Iveco were hydraulic so it was the end of an era.
