PAUL GEE's PHOTO COLLECTION (Part 1)

Chris Webb:
Morning Dean.
The photo of Daveys from Stoke on Trent reminds me of the times late 60s when I saw their trunkers coming out of the Smoke when I was running in on my Abbey Wood trailer change from Sheffield. They ran LV ERFs with trailers with sideboards for carrying flints for the Potteries and always looked “well” loaded.I believe Daveys had a bit of a reputation… :frowning:

Daveys were regulars at Shotton with coils to and from Shelton ,thank you Trevor .

Hi everyone,
Do you have pictures of foreign trucks, especially from Italy (Fiat Iveco), France(Berliet and Saviem) and Spain (Pegaso) of years '70s/'80s  ?
Thank you all !!!

MIMMO

Hi Dean,
Now that’s what I call a decent furniture van…lovely big XF cab.
Masons from Barry…decent outfit …three brothers Gordon…Bret and Richard third generation family run business.

There are hundreds, if not a thousand or more on the “Saviem’s fan club” site, and a few European heavies on the “Heavy haulage throughout the years”…or are you looking for any specific Berliets, Fiat etc…?

Hi Dean hope you don’t mind but saw this and it is transport related, think Bewick was behind this product just to save a few quid, Buzzer.

I think we all did that at one time or another- electric ones were quicker but more expensive. I used to re-groove worn out Land Rover tyres to run on my Triumph 18TR as they were both 17-inch!

Thanks for your comments Chris. “Bit of a reputation” ■■

That Foden unit road test makes for interesting reading. We had a few with the same two button/brake pedal exhaust brake set-up on ■■■■■■■ and Rolls engines but they were soon superseded on the later models with a foot button which was much better if drivers kept them free of crap. The two ■■■■■■■ engined ones we ran had to have the exhaust brakes disconnected from new though as ■■■■■■■ would not accept any warranty claims on the engines if we left them operational, only Jake brakes were allowed by ■■■■■■■■ :unamused:

Pete.

Morning Pete, Most trucks seemed to suffer from crap getting under the foot button. I have something on Jake brakes but cant find it.

The ERF car transporter is Silcock and Collings, l know that my dad worked for them in the 70’s and 80’s later renamed Silcock Express.

Now there’s a rare beast i cannot recall seeing a colour picture of a Sainsburys Leyland Buffalo before.
Nice one Mark and thanks for posting Dean.
