Morning Dean,
A good pic of Len Cranes Fowler traction engine, this was new in 1928 to John Thompson boiler makers from Bilston Staffs. It was used with another traction engine to deliver the boilers and spent the last few years of its working life as a yard crane retiring in the late 60’s, they used to chain to rear of the engine down so it would lift more!
Sadly Len Passed away in 2015, that is Len in the 2nd pic, the engine is still owned by his family but I reckon if it was sold there is a good chance it would be converted in to a showmans engine. Len used an F88 first then a F10 which he fitted with a tag axle to move her around, Cheer’s Pete

Spoiling me this morning Dean!
Cashmores yard was opposite the old Freightliner yard in Dudley, more or less opposite the Black Country Museum, last time I had a look in there would have been early 1980’s and it contained 40+ Unimogs, LHD fitted with canvas roofs and petrol engines! It has since been cleared and a Cinema, hotel etc built on the site, Cheer’s Pete

International. Looks like a toe hitch on the trailer like when pulling with a car.
Hi Dean, a Toter is what they are called, used when moving trailer park units, some adapted, mostly made to order.

Always a cracking site in the old days to see 3 or 4 traction engines pulling that low loader around The Great Dorset Steam Fair ! Now its not allowed and
it happens only in the arenas, not the same for me but still an impressive site Pete. Heres a few of Len’s F88 , not sure if e have had his F10 on here.

Morning Dean.
The photo of Daveys from Stoke on Trent reminds me of the times late 60s when I saw their trunkers coming out of the Smoke when I was running in on my Abbey Wood trailer change from Sheffield. They ran LV ERFs with trailers with sideboards for carrying flints for the Potteries and always looked “well” loaded.I believe Daveys had a bit of a reputation… :frowning:

That Foden unit road test makes for interesting reading. We had a few with the same two button/brake pedal exhaust brake set-up on ■■■■■■■ and Rolls engines but they were soon superseded on the later models with a foot button which was much better if drivers kept them free of crap. The two ■■■■■■■ engined ones we ran had to have the exhaust brakes disconnected from new though as ■■■■■■■ would not accept any warranty claims on the engines if we left them operational, only Jake brakes were allowed by ■■■■■■■■ :unamused:

Pete.
