Hi Pete
About 1979 I delivered tanker loads of Edible oil to their bottling plant at Wednesbury that was situated in an old Mill or Factory. That period I think KTC had a tautliner pulled by a Ford Transcontinental and recall they had a four wheeler Leyland as well. Found Volvo S50KTC. They have come on leaps and bounds since then and have a state of the art factory at Wednesbury and Liverpool. Think KTC Liverpool site is on the old Peerless Edible Oil plant at Dunnings Bridge Road Bootle and also situated on the old Mothers Pride Bread plant at Aintree.
Off the subject 1969 I worked for an Irish haulier Williames Transport Group pulling out of Trafford Park, we had a depot at Farrow Road Wednesbury (that does not exist anymore) believe part or near to the old site KTC building.
Cheers Kev
Thanks for the comments and pic Kev.
Paul sent this one of the same motor.
marky:
Peerless at Netherton (Dunningsbridge Road/Heysham Road corner) was opposite Scott’s Empire Bakery - which was acquired by Associated British Foods and became one of Allied Bakeries premises. The only part of the orginal bakery left standing is what was the old hotplate plant, which originally produced all the crumpets and pikelets. The rest of the bakery became the retail park which stands there now.
So many old business / yards been built on now “marky”
