It sure is “newmercman”, Not AEC standad fitting Allthough the AEC Round tanks were big so this one must be close to the 90 Gallon mark, Regards Larry.
Over the years Foden must have made thousands of these heavy duty half cab tippers.
Here’s a couple of brand new one’s just out of the box…
We had plenty of those Foden dumpers Paul, and a couple of Atkinsons.

HRS:
Morning Dai, Dean,
Arround 1976 an F86 with York Big D 5th wheel and a little paint would be just under £5,000 F88 sleeper (standard) about £8,000 less about £800 for the day cab.Harvey, so the F88 would have been around £13,000 less £800.00 if you wanted a day cab. I understand what
you are saying about having a sleeper even if you dont need one as its easier to sell and will hold its price better.
Intresting story about the birds nest !![]()
Sorry Dean, I did not word that very well.
F86 = £5,000
F88 = £8,000 … less £800 for the non sleeper, so day cab F88 = £7,200.
PS, Re the birds nest, to add insult to injury I had a verbal warning from the factory ( not dealer level ) should not have got involved![]()
Harvey
I know you worked for Volvo Harvey but i had a figure of about 15 grand for a F88 in 76 ■■

Wincanton Foden.
Anyone recognise the Atkinson ■■ Say Ryan 6 on the trailer ?A bit of useless info for you Dean……………
The Atkinson has a HE Barnsley reg plate and looks very much like an ex Duncan Sharp unit,although it wouldn’t have pulled a single axled trailer when he owned it.
The Wincanton Foden tanker is carrying 3Y 2055 which is Styrene and most likely out of BP Chemicals Baglan Bay where Winc had a big prescence in the 70s.Thanks for the information Chris. I dont know how you remember it all !

If you look closely at the SA 400 brochures/ads,what a clever idea the fly window on the door is.
Air in air out!!
Never noticed that before.
Former Mk1/2 drivers complained of insufficient ventilation on the 400. The engineers discovered that the problem was due to the doors actually fitting the frame.Thanks for the comments “whiplash and anorak” >Doors actually fitting !

Re: AEC sleeper cab Cartransporter, Portsmouth Car Delivery operated some like that, but I doubt they went over the water with that trailer as I believe it was illegal to have the overhang on the continent.
Re: Lathams 1319 Mercedes, I think Compton Buildings had the first 2 of these models, one of which was my Brothers, they used it in some advertising.

Morning Dean,
Thompsons of Crowle near Scunthorpe and an AEC Mandator of theirs, I previously posted on the AEC thread,
I did a fair few loads for Thompsons in the late 90’s, nice people to deal with and payment smack on time but sadly no more, consigned to history through mergers and a buy out, Cheer’s Pete
Shame when i good company disappears Pete,nice pic chap !
pv83:
Is that a original sleeper cab mate? Can’t remember having seen one before…?
Some were so-called ‘Jennings’ conversions carried out by ERF. There’s a whole thread on it! Here’s the link:

Yes Ray spot on.

If you look closely the grill is different the indicators are on the side and the headlights different I zoomed in with a magnifying glass and it got Bedford on it

I zoomed in and can see an N quite clearly
The body builders were always changing the position of indicators, side and the headlights with different specifications for different councils.
Thanks for all the comments on the fire engine. That seemed to confuse everyone !
We have had a lotof the Dodge 300’s on here. They were pretty quick in there day.
