That P&O 111 is an Orsett depot lorry, the telltale is the striped bumper, the only P&O group motors that had them were based out of Orsett. They did a lot of Euro work for Anglo Overseas, mostly Italy.

Thanks for the information about the P&O motor “newmercman” . Thats a blast from the past Anglo Overseas
they were a busy company back in the day are they still going do you know ■■

Thanks for that one Dean: a far cry from what Roadways ended up as, purely a container haulier and yard operator, and now disappeared altogether of course.

Anglo Overseas was another P&O Group company - I’ve a vague recollection that it was sold off intact during the dismantling of the P&O empire - an outcome that still baffles me considering its scale and breadth

Anglo-Overseas ended up being a freight-forwarder only, specialising in French work. I did a lot of work for them in the early to mid-2000s. They were civilised to work for and paid on the nail so they were useful for owner-drivers. robert

Is that a original sleeper cab mate? Can’t remember having seen one before…?

Some were so-called ‘Jennings’ conversions carried out by ERF. There’s a whole thread on it! Here’s the link:

Hi Ray,

You are right it was owned by Mike Ansell, who as you know worked for Robert Baille,I think it was bought by Mainland Market Deliveries, when Mike retired.

Like you say Robert ,i deal with them in the 80s and 90s and they were a good company. They used to do a fair
bit of work out of Portugal and use Transgamma to bring groupage loads up.
