Chris Webb:
Anyone recognise the tidy Foden bulker ■■?
That Foden looks like it could be an ex Kenneth Wilson wagon, livery is similar and it’s got a Leeds reg plate.
Thanks for the possible name Chris.

The two Guy Big J’s might be from the now defunct Moss and Lovatt fleet from Rushton Spencer? The family gave a talk and slide show at our vintage club a few years ago, they also had a Big J with a Gardner 240 badge on the grille.
Pete.

Thanks for the possible name Pete.
cav551:
The lead Guy brings back memories of the Radiomobile seen in the back of the cab. I used to take a transistor radio with me, but a lot of the time the signal wasn’t good enough to hear it above the engine noise even on full volume. We were offered the chance of having a Radiomobile properly installed in the cab in exchange for working a week of our holiday (paid) rather than taking it at the height of the fruit season.

Thanks for your comment “cav551”. Its funny you should mention that dial in the back of the cab. I used to go
in my grandads as a kid and i seem to remember there was a warning buzzer back there if your air pressure
was low .Am i right or have i got mixed up ■■?

The reference to the big Percy was very carefully considered Pete!!! David

blackshadow:
The Ex Smiths of Maddison A series ERF was bought from Sidney Hartley by my father JG Bagot of Ribchester Lancashire. It had a 240 Gardner and 9 speed fuller gearbox. It is seen here coupled to to what was its normal trailer a Nevell bulk tipping trailer which had a Lister donkey engine to tip the trailer. This tractor unit replaced a F regestered 2 pedal Leyland beaver TWU 790 F. If anybody can clean up this photo so I can see the registraton number I would appreciate it as I can’t remember it
I will have a word with Paul and see if he can make the reg out “blackshadow”
240 Gardner:
Thanks for that one Dean: a far cry from what Roadways ended up as, purely a container haulier and yard operator, and now disappeared altogether of course.
Anglo Overseas was another P&O Group company - I’ve a vague recollection that it was sold off intact during the dismantling of the P&O empire - an outcome that still baffles me considering its scale and breadth
Well i never knew that Chris, Anglo Overseas were a fairly big concern ! Did P&O get into financial trouble
then Chris and is that the reason they finished ■■
curnock:
Anyone recognise the two GUY’s not sure where the pic was taken.

could these be ductile ?
Thank for the possible name “curnock”. That’s a different name to who “windrush” thought they might be.
Its not easy remembering all the different companies and colour schemes from the 1970s,mind you its
40 odd years ago !

Ray Smyth:
Eagleway Mercedes. You dont see many pics of this company.
Hi Dean, I believe Eagleway were from Fareham and Portsmouth. Kind regards, Ray.
Hello Ray,yes i think you are right !
jshepguis:
Dean once again thanks to you and Paul for this thread which is still my first port of call on Trucknet. The Crossley Sed Atki is actually another Teesside Carriers as you can see on the trailer. Crossleys was a brick manufacturer and building supplies in the North East so Teesside Carriers must have had a contract with them. They did quite a lot out steel out of BSC Lackenby as did a lot of North East haulage companies when we actually had industries that made things!
Thanks for the comments and info on Teeside Carriers “jshepguis”
