PAUL GEE's PHOTO COLLECTION (Part 1)

John Weaver F88 from Poole. 240 or 290 ? As stated before i am sure alot of the manufacturers back in the
1970’s would pop on any part if they run out of the original. Its got a 290 grill but a 240 air stack.

Article for the tipper drivers. This brings back some memories as a kid going out in grain trucks when
you had to manually put the sheets on.

MrJake, heres one for you. R.Ridgers and Son from Lymington F10.

L1419p.JPG

Dean Ridgers had a petrol garage in Lymington IIRC and tey had two trucks on for RH&D pulling SCAC trailers out of Pompy when the car park was small and gravel, how things have moved on there, there were only about eight of us on traction in the early 80’s doing that job, Buzzer.

Harry Nuttall Foden.JPG This Foden S80 Reg No WRN 466R was operated by H. Nuttall & Sons Ltd of Canal Street Heywood.
(Harry Nuttall was the father of James Nuttall of Rochdale)

Here’s a shot of WRN 466R taken when almost new after washing off in the depot at Heywood in January 1977.
They were quite a big firm back in the day with depots in Heywood, Hollywell, Immingham, and Grays.

Early days at Harry Nuttalls.

Pictured in the depot at Canal Street Heywood Foden S36 6X2 tractor unit Reg No UTH 808H was new in 1968.

Heywood depot yard shoot.

Nice line up of Seddon Atkinson’s which became the mainstay of the fleet.

One of the few foreign motors Harry Nuttall introduced into his fleet was this Volvo F86 tractor unit.

I agree Dean: ERF demo motor - it even has a factory B-series visor  ! Robert

Hadn’t thought of that! Highly likely, I’d say; especially with those cages/stillages which look like typical automotive ones. Robert

Thanks for your comments FLOURPOWER and Robert about the B series. It could possibly be something to
do with the Post office, maybe they had it on demo as i am 99% sure it says ERF on the door so i think its
definately a demonstrator. :unamused:

Talbots smart Scania 111 look brand new. Would make sense as Paul used to like to take holidays
in the first 2 weeks of August to catch the new registrations.

Hi Dean. Unsure about the Foden sixer, it appears it could be a Hoveringham tub as it’s too light to be the seven Ts. The reg plate looks familiar, I’m sure I’ve seen it before.

My first merc motorhome belonged to mr Bell before me ,it was an L reg 310 which I think he sent to autotrail as a chassis cab for the body to be custom built .

Hi Dean.
That particular Talbot was from Dronfield near Sheffield, not to be confused with Talbot Transport in Sheffield which was taken over by Robert Earl Transport.
I knew Talbot from Dronfield very well,a friend of mine drove for them mid 70s,the son had Scania 111 and my mate had an A Series ERF with 180 Gardner. They did a lot of work for Mobiloil Trafford Park, run over early, load, deliver and back next morning with empty drums.I don’t think they had a tipper trailer in those days though.
I’ve had many a lift over Woodhead in a morning when on a dodgy courtesy of Talbot Transport Dronfield. :grimacing:

Hi Dean,
Alpha steel were in Newport,Known as liberty steel now afaiaa…
