Possibly one of M.T.Barnsleys ex motors ■■?6
quote]Hi Dean
Easy mistake to make because they are the same colours but that isn’t one of Mike Barnsleys. He was a Gardner man through and through and always had Atkinson artics with 240’s and a couple of Atki eights with 180’s in. I think he did try a solitary ■■■■■■■ but it wasn’t a success… Naturally swopped over to the 400/401’s again with Gardners but then bought his first F10 around '86 or '87 and stayed with Volvo until the end… He finished around 3-4 years ago now. M Way from Devon have/had a few of Mike’s later FH4’s bought from the sale…
Cracking pics again mate. Soo many forgotten memories keep popping up - it’s amazing the amount of companies that used to be around running all sorts of different tackle, in all sorts of different condition

Many thanks again to you, Paul and Mark for a fabulous record of better times
Happy New Year to you all

Hi Dean,
Gulliver’s are still a very big player in the truck hire business.Years ago they were also hauliers in their own right.Three years ago,we restored this F86 for them at work.

I’d say def ARC now. Looks like a couple of contract changes after she left the quarry. It’s surprising how a body can turn a looker into a dog, Always the way I suppose, but a couple of pints of Pedigree soon sorts that prob

While on the subject of Foden half-cabs would you really fancy trunking from Teesside down to London in one of these below…

moomooland I know most drivers opinion of the half cab but having driven one, albeit just a month, I can’t for the life of me understand what the problem is with them. I was loaned out to ARC Whitwick Leics 3 Milton K a shift with dry stone on nights coming off an Ergo Reiver. I could get my ■■■■, snap n flask not to forget myself in the cab comfy, it was the summer of 76 so could open n shut both side windows as and when, an impossibility in anything else. Was it only me that never went anywhere near the passenger seat? I can’t imagine why you would want to mess about over the other side of the engine hump unless you were sleeping /shagging overnight. I see the modern motors where you can hold a dance in them, is that what I was missing? I drove dumptrucks n loads drive buses all half cabs. Now I realize that I might be in a minority here n you almost certainly don’t agree with me but tread carefully I might turn out to be one of those posters that go on forever until you cave in (guess who)

With ladder as well ,my first 3 I used sheet hook when I needed to have a peek in the body. HSE not all bad

Well our eight wheel halfcabs at Tilcon travelled daily from Ashbourne to Felsted, Essex in the sugar season. They also went into Scotland, Kent, the Isle of Wight and Cornwall, nobody complained once they had power steering fitted. They replaced AEC Marshall’s in the fleet. As Coomsey said what do your need a passenger seat for when there is only one of you, they were just the same as any other Foden cab from that period with just a seat missing. Warmer than a dual cab as well!
Pete.
