If I remember correct, there was 2 in the office … Jim Smith & Eddie Storr. No doubt if I’m wrong, some-one will be along to put me right

Thought i would scan some old motors from when my dad worked for them, Hope there ok in this forum?

nice pictures danny. any more?

are they still going ?

No they were bought out by Vandenbosch (sp?) a few years ago, Got a few pics i will try and post later

I remember them having some trucks based at Cadbury’s in Moreton for a good few years on contract with the drivers travelling over from Yorkshire for Sunday/Monday, one of the drivers was an nice old guy called Tommy, another was a guy with a beard who’s name escapes me but I saw him today in our local Tesco so he must have moved here.

His name is Colin

lovely old pictures Danny, it is a great shame to see it all gone, there were some smashing lads on the job and they were never spoiled with fancy tackle.

It was a great shame to see what VDB did to them, and to the drivers & fitters who worked for them.

How old would your Dad be Danny?

58 worked there for years until they were bought out, His job changed so much he was basically forced out from what i remember :frowning:

Yes. I felt sorry for them all, most thought they had jobs for life with Sarah. I started on tankers when we shared a lot of the same customers such as Rowallen, LD Industries, PURA Foods, Central Edible Oils and Peerless Refining. We would be chasing each others arses while doing a ship between IBL and Chambers and Fargus. I even remember they made national radio with James Whale slagging them off for pushing him up the M1 at 70 mph

There was a driver from Sorn in Ayrshire with them Bert Cunningham I used to see him occasionaly heading south on a Mon. morning down the A76.
Eddie.
