As Frankie Howerd might say, no tittering.
Ignore the ladders on the first tanker GOM ![]()
No 1 is a triple 4-in-line, apparently, 3 times the worst in semi trailer engineering imo. ![]()
Looks like a ballast tractor with a dolly ?
It looks like it could be awkward to reverse too
Ironically Surrey County Council actually did have a poverty spec, narrow day cab, 6v71 TM artic outfit employed by the trading standards department on weighbridge testing and calibrations. It was actually also used by neighbouring Councils.I never drove it because I left after I got my class 1 and it had a dedicated trading standards department driver anyway. Not aware of any Gardner powered vehicles on the fleet including an old Leyland 680 powered Foden wrecker.
Was that one of your 5 speed 111s Dennis?
GOM do you remember Batley Garages???
Matador ??? It looks to have a spurious drive axle.
Spurious ,

Eh bah goom.
Well, that’s not a bad attempt. ![]()
The written effort is far better than the verbal try. ![]()
Many years ago we had an ad, where a Pom said “eh by gum, that’s a lovely bargain.” My FiL thought I was an idiot, for not recognising the accent. (There may or may not have been other reasons for him forming that opinion.) ![]()
That was one of the 10 speed units on BTS this is a shot of a couple of K Fell units the nearest one TEC 641R was a 5 speed unit.
Who put the Merc badge on the 111 Dennis , sacrillage. I would have thought a five speed box would have hampered progress but i remember in a previous post you said not
That would have been the then driver Frank Russell who got the unit new as you can see he was a windscreen flag man as were a few more of our drivers. I used to have a purge occasionally but funnily enough those particular drivers were all decent Lads so I did used to cut them a bit of slack The five speeders were great units and they pulled like trains as once you pulled on the M/ways and got into 5th you never touched the gear stick again until you turned off !
