Past Present and in Between in Pictures (Part 1)

dave docwra:
A really bad right turn, the image on the Bedford looks like a cat on the edge of a box, maybe a matchbox.

Dave…

I think he must be a Frenchman just off the boat and his mate is driving the Mini. Harvey

Hello Oily and Buzzer ,Parrys had about 10 of those mammoth Majors some coupled up to a drawbar ,back then they were doing a lot of Irish cattle from Fishguard and Holyhead ,i believe they had their own holding pens at Fishguard ,thank you Trevor

That Stoford sleeper on the Iveco looks a bit of an aberration!!!

I wonder who built/specced that rather than go with factory sleeper!!!

BRS Parcels Bedford TK artic from 1968/69.

BRS Leyland Comet and 4-in-line trailer.

You are right, its a bit odd on a 3+3 outfit.
It must be something to do with the 5th wheel position
or to accommodate a long ‘nosed’ trailer.
This monstrosity operated by Christian Salvesen for a while
and seen at their Easton depot 13 July 88 could not have
had a sleeper. The front overhang when turning was frightening.

Here’s one in the eye for modern electric vehicle, this is a shot of battery powered commercial vehicles being charged up overnight at St Pancras station 1917, Buzzer.

No idea of the make, but they must have been a delight to drive.

Thanks to Ray Smyth, pyewacket947v and Buzzer for the pics

I saw this old beauty last week, it was absolutely immaculate. It had a 400 big cam ■■■■■■■■ 13spd double overdrive and air ride rear axles, not exactly how it left the factory, but common upgrades according to the owner.
