Nice old A-type, Larry. My old chap had a petrol-engined one with a long wheelbase tipping body. A little before the one in your photo- it had the small sidelights mounted in the corners of the front wings.
And I have bad news- I’ve just finished my bottle of Ardmore and it’s a long time til Christmas!

Thanks to Punchy Dan for the picsI can remember the steamers working, traction engine driven threshing mills and the county council road rollers, that was before my first pair of long trousers

Yorkshire Patent Steam Wagon Co.Ltd History. Yorkshire Steam,Petrol And Diesel Lorries.
The Yorkshire Patent Steam Wagon Co.Ltd existed from 1903 to 1993 manufactured steam lorries in to 1937.The company was based at Hunslet,Leeds. It also built one single decker steam omnibus. This was built in 1917 for Provincial Tramways of Grimsby who operated it for two years and converted it to a works lorry in 1919.
Yorkshire steam lorries had an unusual front transversely-mounted double-ended boiler configuration, the early models were undertypes, after which Yorkshire produced overtype steam lorries with transversely-mounted vertical compound cylinder steam engines mounted inside the cab,and offered optional chain drive or shaft drive. Yorkshire also built at least one 3-ton payload petrol lorry in 1912.
A range of diesel lorries was produced from 1933 to 1938:the WK4 7-ton payload 4x2 lorry with Dorman-Ricardo and Gardner 4LW and 5LW oil engine options,plus standard crash gearbox - WK4C - or Wilson pre-selector gearbox - WK4PS - options.The WK (5? ) 12-ton rigid 6-wheeler came in 1935, and the WK6 15-ton rigid eight lorry model was introduced in 1936.
Around 1400 steam road vehicles were produced 1903 to 1937 and around 70 diesel lorries were produced from 1933 to 1938.
From 1937-1938 Yorkshire made bodies for street sweepers, refuse vehicles, gulley emptiers, etc.
Yorkshire Vehicles Ltd went out of business in 1993.It’s remnants are now part of Dennis Eagle, based at Gildersome near Leeds…the company
moved to this location in March 2018.

Great set of pictures PV83! Didn’t know Croome did fridges! Robert
Well done PV83, great collection.
Some real working trucks, especially the F12 tag with the tilt and plenty of dirt.
I wonder if that was a slab fuel tank or a chain box ■■ Harvey

Did you notice it looked as though the front wheel bearing cap looked ‘damp’ ? I’d be keeping a close eye on that
