The Enid elsewhere

The West Country Ketches were the British Motors of their day - Think Sutton’s Atkinson Shipping of St Helens - 3 men 60 tons cargo

I think these have all finished now !!

Looks great indeed!

France’s biggest vintage vehicle show unfortunately as on the same week-end, end here are a few pictures taken yesterday at Melun, under a parching sun

Terry’s mighty Crusader

David’s Scania 142

Leyland Super Comet; sorry, I can’t remembet the owner’s name (perhaps David too), but cheers to him anyway, and to all the gang, hoping your trip arond France will be a success!

Now a typically French “Grand Routier” with this Berliet TR 250 (c. 1970). We passed it on our way back in the Fontainebleau Forest, and it was riding at a good 90 kph.

And a true oldie with this Willème (c. 1935) in perfect mechanical and bodywork condition.

The inside; nothing like what we’re used to now!

A couple of Iveco TurboStars. 380 bhp (certainly the best engine I ever used!) on the left, and 480 bhp V8 on the right (powerful, but a bit noisy).

Thanks to whisperingsmith, DEANB, ERF-NGC-European, Buzzer and Froggy55      a fine input.

This one to get grumpy old man excited

Hi Froggy, the Leyland Super Comet’s owner is called Glen Harley from South ■■■■■■■■ also the Scammell Constructor gets around a bit and has taken part in the West Coast of Scotland run as far north as John o Groats on two or three occasions.
Cheers, Leyland 600

Established in 1955 by George Ernest Smith in Pickering North Yorkshire as G. E. Smith hauling pit props out of Dalby Forest to the coal mines in the north
Not my photos

That’s it, I’m dusting the licence off and I’m going back on the road.

Saw this today in Leicester

Thanks to Stanfield, DEANB and gazsa401 for the pics

Along side the AEC is a Thornycroft Trusty 8 wheeler with what looks like the name Victoria Carrying Company or maybe Ferrying, any of you older lads heard of them.

Some old Guy invincibles !

I enjoyed those Thorny Trustys, we had 3 in the early 60’s when the company was Charrington - Hargreaves, 2 of em had Thornycroft own engines and they were grand machines, the other one had been re engined with a 6 LW Gardner, that one was not so grand, it wasn’t a success for us.

Thanks to DEANB for the pics  I have some pics of Pointer wagons which were sent to me a few years ago by a fellow member.

Same logo change of livery :bulb: .
