The old A50 at Foston in 1958
Here are some more images taken in the Kaikoura district while on a coach travelling south to Christchurch on State Highway 1 back in 2006. Most of these sections of road are now buried under thousands of tons of rock and earth. after the recent earthquakes.
Cheers Leyland 600.
“Some old football team”… a tad embarrassing this last year or two

I can remember that being washed out by the flood - and the bailey bridge which replaced it for a few years afterwards - was it really 1958!
If you enlarge the first pic, I am sure that old ex-army lorry has Derby Fire Service across the top of the cab? I can remember that old open-cab Leyland turntable escape they had at Bold Lane, but I can’t recall any ex-army QL’s or whatever.

It might have been 57 as I used the Bailey Bridge in 58 in my first co car.Warwick green Ford Pop.but I can’t remember where the diversion was.
Do you remember a few army motors parked up on Church Broughton airfield. They went to Egginton after then onto the camp at Marchington. They did experiment with a Green Goddess with a ■■■■■■■ C series but it didn’t carry on.I think T.N.T. looked after them then.Should have been cheaper for us if they put some T.N.T. under them.
