Am i correct in thinking that this Vulcan been on circuit a while,as i recall seeing it as a kid at the Bishops Castle steam fair early 80’s?

Yes another bloke had it on the show scene before Roy bought it.

interestingly(to me anyway) was that Vulcan started of as car makers in Southport 1902, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulcan_(motor_vehicles, first lorry about 1920, a tipper.

Hi Kevmorrow , used to do a fair bit for that mob, mainly out of Con Base T/Pk when they had about 5/6 motors based there, a few yrs ago, looks like he must av had h/cube on or somert Brain Fade Maybe, Cheers Chris

Hi Oily, from what I have read about that Co" which aint much, they Vulcan, started making Vehicles at Southport In 1907, as the Vulcan Motor and Engineering Ltd, then from about 1914 It started Making Light Lorries, about 2/4 tonnes ish" Cheers Chris.

Thanks for the pic CJA1 :smiley: they were quite a company at one time it would seem, building cars, lorries, armoured vehicles and buses, also back as far as 1924 experimented with automatic transmission.

This Thornycroft used to carry banknotes in the 50s from the printers, Portals of Laverstoke, Hants, to the Bank of England, with armed guards aboard. Regards Chris

The ERF 8 Wheeler/extract is taken from a Bob Tuck article, very smart with the Air-horns etc, unusual for the day :smiley: The other pics show Mr Duckett in the year 2000, still earning a living. He was clearly what is sadly gone from our industry now, a Character :smiley: I wonder if he is still around? Regards Chris
