Hi Stanfield, “Yan o Jazzers wagins” The Albion 8 wheeler loaded with a casting sitting outside Distington Engineering Company at Workington the source of many heavy, and often awkward loads carried by ■■■■■■■■ hauliers sub-contracted to BRS Whitehaven Branch (Howgate) Johnston Brothers Transport from Gilcrux near Aspatria was always referred to by all the other owner drivers, drivers and manfacturers as Jazzer Johnston thus whenever the company was being discussed in a cafe or wherever the term "Yan o Jazzers2 was used. They went on to run a fleet of ERFs and the odd Albion and Leyland before going over to early Mercedes then Scanias. I knew some of the family and a good number of drivers.
Cheers,
Leyland 600

John, please stop it, (only joking ) all these photos make me desperate to go back 40/50 years, just to have a week with some of them (all of them) and relive my youth. At the time I don’t suppose we ever thought of them as “happy days”, but they sure as hell were.
A 2 stroke Foden singing it’s way up Standedge, a 150 Gardner and a DB box, up and down a Fuller, smooth as silk with the ■■■■■■■ on the govenor, and let’s not forget ALL the AEC’s
happy days fellas.
Thanks to Lawrence Dunbar, erfguy and lurpak for the photos and for G O M a couple of AEC’s, thanks to Ronnie Cameron, the ergo with a Newcastle reg.

Nice ones there erfguy, more recently from Inverness, and a Harbro Iveco with slightly unusual trailer axle configuration, also a tidy FH12 with I’m sure a few miles on the clock…
