Is this a Dennis ? photo taken outside of the Royal Hotel Redcar in 1952.

That’s an interesting way of loading crates, any idea why the outside ones stacks don’t collapse. Why didn’t he just build 5 stacks of even height.

Hi Jeff, If they had been drinking Castle Eden they wouldn’t care, when I worked for Renwicks Bradford, overnight at Hartlepool depot they were having a company night out at Camerons Brewery, food and beer free, parked on the car park opposite the brewery, woke up the next day surrounded by market stalls, o s–t getting out with a hangover from hell.

Hiya in answer to why there loaded like that would be to make it more stable,Too get the outside crates on the chock rail
causing the load too lean to the middle the roads then would be a iffy don’t you think?

Fleet St.-- Ludgate Hill starts the other side of Ludgate Circus under the bridge & up to St Pauls.

Thanks to kennyjohnson and Buzzer for the pics

here’s a few more from my trip doon the road, chatted to quite a few drivers, mixed reactions to the “job”, mostly positive, surprisingly very few had heard of TruckNet and that goes for other drivers at other times, anyway they do now
Oily

Odd brewery and lemonade companys had the bodies built with the floor sloped up at each side so they leaned in and didny need securing. What would VOSA say about them nowadays. Eddie.

Your right there Eddie, I remember in the early 70’s my mate used to buy second hand Corona trucks and they all had bodies that sloped to the middle, cheers Buzzer.

Correct Harry and the spire you can see is St Martin’s Ludgate Hill.

Hi Oily, The guy that originally restored the Mitchells & Butlers Leyland Beaver circa 1975 is a good friend who I see regularly at The Long Haul Club meeting at Garstang. I believe the wagon is now in the care of Tesco.
Cheers, Leyland 600.
