Back again after four days away, so thanks to the shopminders for keeping the thread going and for the pics from truckfing, coca cola kid, Guesty44, albion1938, mappo, flishflunk, and kevmac47
A hint of disharmony in the ranks, now all sorted in a very gentlemanly fashion
For myself I am well aware that postings from whoever will never please everybody all of the time, but hopefully most of the viewers most of the time . My picture collecting of cars, lorries, tractors etc started when still at school, cut from magazines, newspaper adverts and stuck into old jotters, Christ knows what I used for glue, but it did not do the cuttings any favours and with deterioration taking its toll, they eventually got binned, during the lorry days I bought Headlight and the Commercial Motor, also other transport publications. Now I left lorries a long time ago, back to my apprenticed trade, with the promise from a businessman, whom I trusted, that I could earn in a day what I was then earning in a week and of course home every night, though among the top things I missed was tramping. I never lost interest in my first love of lorries and buses. In 2002 I bought a computer and the whole worlds lorry/truck pictures were at my finger tips, so I started collecting again and scanning from the lorry books with the sole purpose of sharing with like minded people, joining TruckNet in 2010 and started posted on another very successful thread, but hey that got me into trouble regarding copyright, so I started this thread after a bit of copyright research into what can and cannot not be used without specific written permission of the owner, the point I am trying to make and convoluted it may be is that the “old photos” we old uns so much want to see are out of bounds for posting except by those who own them, Creative Commons licence excepted, hence the fact that we need present day wagon pictures on here, the more the merrier.
So to Buzzer and coca cola kid, we need your input and that of everybody else to keep this thread going.
We left home last Sun morning on the way south to ■■■■■■■ via Edinburgh, guess what, first stop was Dingwall lorry park (todays starter pics) then Broxden Services and so on.
With regard to Buzzer’s comments about coca cola kid’s photos being out of focus, they are not taken that way as such, it depends on what browser is being used when viewing, with me they are fine when using Google Chrome but not when using Internet Express.
Oily
Broxden Services and a couple of Fair wagons, my take on their motors is that they are mostly well maintained and the fact they had a previous life in general haulage might bring a response on recognition of a reg plate.
Nearly forgot this one, yeh it’s a car but what crossed my mind was that could this be the motor erfguy visits his local bakery with, some of you will know what I’m getting at… right Eddie
Oily
Oily I bet you made your own paste using flour and water like I did in those days
cheers Johnnie

Leyland600:
Hi Kevmac, Good to hear Jim W is still around and well, does he still take part in organising the Tyne Tees Rally and get to drive his beloved Albion,? I remember the wagon delivering down on Newcastle Quay back in the early 1960s and got to know him at rallys in the mid 1970s, he told me that Powells were connected to the Old Jam Works here in Wigton in the 1930s. I had meant to attend the TT on Sunday but unforseen circumstances prevented this.
Cheers, Leyland 600
He still has some input on organizing the T/T. He doesn’t drive the Albion much now, leaving that to his son Iain. I do know he still had his HVG Licence until last year, although I don’t know if he renewed it again this time round. Regards Kev.
Hi Valkyrie, PM for you, cheers.
Hi Kevmac, It is good to know Jim is still able to get about and get the odd drive at his Albion, I doubt if he needs to be retrained (CPC ■■?) on how to drive a Chieftain.
Cheers Leyland 600

Easier to drive than half this modern crap, bit on the noisy side maybe!
Hi mappo, Stockton Haulage used to run AEC Mandators just like this one on long steel up to Stranraer in the late 1960s I used to meet the on my way home after delivering cement in the Stranraer area from Whitehaven. I also carried shipping containers like the one shown here fo IFF when the Preston Dock strike took place and operations were transferred to Silloth. Nae twist locks in those day just good roping or chaining.
Cheers Leyland 600
Hi Leyland600…I,m glad the photo I put on has brought back some good
memories for you.
I didn,t take the pic, I copied it from an old magazine.
It was a little before my time, the first AEC I drove was the ergomatic cab.
Regards…Tony
