Hi Eddie, can you not remember those two old grey Fodens that Niven’s had from Carlisle ? they were dead slow 28 mph flat out, I nearly ran into the back of one just through the railway bridge west of Dumfries I had forgotton it was ahead of me until I got through the bridge. With regard to my ERF I was at Caldbeck one Sunday morning to visit a former haulier friend with it when a man approached me from the village showing interest in the wagon, turned out he was a son of James Bowen.
Cheers, Leyland 600

The McInnes ERF was painted by Tommy Thompson many of the older TN members will remember Tommy restoring and rallying a Leyland Hippo in London Scottish livery. Eddie.
Forgot to mention the youthfull looking John Tennant from the Forth standing next to Tommys Leyland. Eddie.
A newer Leyland this time , but not built for travelling on the roads.
How many of you can remember the T.V. advert for Smiths
Scampi Fries? The advert showed a Leyland Roadrunner boxvan being driven out of the sea . It was carrying a newly-caught consignment of scampi . Nowt
fishy`
in that ,…but a good gimmick at the time.
This is the actual “vehicle” . it is a half-scale model , specially built for the filming of the advert.
It now resides on display at the British Commercial Vehicle Museum at Leyland.
Cheers , cattle wagon man.
Hi Eddie, Colin Bateman’s Atkinson L745 was also painted in pseudo London Scottish livery when owned by Arthur Ramage, there is a good chance that Tommy painted that one also. Here is a photo of the Atki when it arrived in ■■■■■■■ for further restoration and on completion.
Cheers Leyland 600

How many guesses do I get L600 as to the location of the low-loader shot ,and for a bonus point I’ll have a guess at what is parked next to it with the polythene wrapping.
Cheers Bewick.

Two great photos there Buzzer, Both 1948 Reg,s, The first wagon I drove was a one like the Austin in 1955, But I would have preferred the O model Bedford, they had a much better braking system IMO, happy days, Regards Larry.
