Not one of the usual vehicles we see around. This is the launch unit for the Seahouses Lifeboat. I’m quite pleased with the quality of this shot, I used the camera on my phone as I’d left the “real one” at home. Going by the reg. it’s been around quite a while, I wonder how long it will take to learn more about it.
Regards Kev.
Very interesting Kev, Its reg is from Salop, Of course that is perhaps where it originated from, But its a good photo to say the least , Regards Larry.

Not many lifeboats needed in Shropshire Larry, that tractor would have had a fair old trek to the sea eh!!
Regards Kev.

Thanks Dave, I didn’t think we’d have long to wait for more info. This world is getting smaller by the day. Regards Kev.
Hi Kevmac, This tractor will have put a few miles on the clock this past few weeks pulling Seahouses lifeboat in and out of the water when MV Danni ran aground out on the Farne Islands, As a senior member of the Seahouses RNLI succinctly quoted " right next to the lighthouse too" !!! I wonder how many miles this tractor has actually covered in its working life with RNLI not that many I guess.
Cheers, Leyland 600.
Hi Kevmac, Edward Nixon is the farming side of the company I think.

I’m sure we’ll learn a bit more about it L600, the keyboards will be humming now. I wonder how long we will wait for info on the mileage? It’s only about 150m to the water so it will probably be hours worked rather than miles covered. Regards Kev.
Kevmac, One time when I was at Seahouses with my Gardner 150 powered Bristol RE coach with a load of our local schoolchildren to visit the Farnes I noticed that Billy Shiels who operated one of the boats taking the kids out was flying a huge Gardner flag, I mentioned to him that I was a Gardner operator and their virtues, I was invited to take a trip and sample Gardner marine power. This was a new boat at the time (1988) and Billy certainly showed off its capabilitys which I must admit was awesome. He also demonstrated all the navigational aids fitted, quite an eye opener.!! He told me that there were two 2LW Gardner generators at the Farne lighthouse which had been there since about 1941.

Not many Ford Sussex 6 wheelers have survived into preservation, so I share this photograph
to show the spacers
between the wider mudguards and the bonnet side panels.
The chrome " Perkins Diesel " badge looks a nice fitting addition to the well-presented Ford.
J. & L. Dykes , Carlisle, is the name on the cab doors. With a folded sheet on the cab roof sheet rack , and ropes hanging on the headboard , its ready to collect a farmer
s wool sheets. Theres even a two-pronged
wool grab` next to the ropes.
Photographed at Kirkby Stephen Rally , Easter Weekend , 2013.
Cheers, cattle wagon man.

Dave the Renegade info got me interested and I find this machine is built leakproof for submerged survival, and with a Cat V8 engine more here…claytonengineering.co.uk/equ … /Talus-MBH.

Cheers to cattle wagon man for the classic pics and to kevmac47 for the launcher .
Correspondence with Flicktone brought a slight surprise inasmuch as and to quote “he is not really into lorries” but I guess they are a good subject for photography and his added artistic skill, on invitation he has looked at my flickr photostream and tells me he will now give more time to lorry snapping, I look forward to that and of course the fact I can share them on here, like these.

Cheers for that Lawrence, Marston Road Services of Liverpool, here’s a brilliant Pathe motion pic of one of their then new wagons, great action shot considering the equipment around then. britishpathe.com/video/the-giant
