Right then Barry this era of wagon should be right up your street and thanks to Ronnie Cameron there will be a few more along from time to time. Looking at the cab door, Caledonian had become part of the TayForth Group, anyway a proper sheet and rope job.

I knew of a young 15 year old lad who did a Liverpool trunk (from Dewsbury), there and back one night in 1960 with one of those Albions. No motorways in those days, over Standedge and the A 580 East Lancs. It was very naughty of Stuart (the lad) and the regular driver, who became “indisposed” (Tetleys Bitter) for allowing it. But he did it and got back safe. I still see him occasionally, he’s retired now but he spent his working life on the road.
Tractors on the move.

Unusual, nonetheless impressive motor here from CovLtwt, rally type plate on the rad, is it a rescue job with the recovered vehicle missing a front axle

hi,dave i was 17 when i learned to drive and passed my test 1955 on a Morris motor similar to that model, cab&chassie was under 3ton laden, it had a insulated box van fitted, but that was classed as part of the load, monday and thursday it was always loaded to the gunnel’s with fresh kill out of anlwick to newcastle, it used to struggle a bit on the peth at felton, straight from 3rd to 1st gear, other wise you where in serious trouble
