Ah, a fine machine, and the AEC is not bad either, as old as i am, I’d take it on for a week, just to show the young superstars with their fancy new modern motors how the job was done, and done well. :stuck_out_tongue:
Funny though, I never took to the AEC’s with the Leyland “Ergo” cab on, somehow to me they were never as good as the Mk V.
From the AEC’s I went on to ERF’s and Atki’s, then suddenly AEC was no more and the world moved on. :frowning:

One of my contacts on flickr is Ronnie Cameron* and quite by chance I met with him yesterday, spent the best part of an hour exchanging lorry talk, I am the wiser of the fact he has an encyclopedic knowledge of transport firms of the past and present in the north and further afield, keeping abreast of whats going on fleetwise from the people he knows at the pit face. Some of you will be aware of his collection of photos on flickr which is extensive to say the least. I am most grateful to him for granting me access of use of his photos to post on this thread.
Not only is he an avid snapper but also a collector of lorry stuff bought, gifted, emailed and entrusted local family firms personal photos. He owns the photos and I will mark them Ronnie Cameron Collection.
*His enthusiasm knows no bounds and I get a slight feeling of obligation to get even more involved

anyway here is a taster.

Right up to date with these shots Oily, the first 13 reg motor iv’e seen. Unfortunately the batteries on my camera ran low so I couldn’t zoom in. Regards Kev.

Nice one Kev, they don’t come any fresher than that.
The mention of 13 brings another bit of useless info to the surface and the superstition that goes with that number, Steven of Wick whose origins are connected to deep sea fishing will not have a fleet no. or reg no. that is 13 or any numbers that add up to 13.

One of their’s I caught a couple of weeks ago.
Cheers

A very early pole trailer, the unit, most likely a Ford having pnematic upgrade on the driving wheels.
