Here’s an ERF LV I drove for a while with McMurdo of Sanquhar KEB 470F was ex Knowles of Wisbeach their old ERF’s were easy spotted with the cow catcher bumper bar fitted ELMFIELDS KER 870G further up the thread was another by the look of it I had KEB for two years mostly running to LONDON and the south never once let me down and 18mpg loaded both ways makes you wonder why KNOWLES did’ny hold onto them for a few years longer. Eddie.
Hi Eddie, I can remember when you drove this ERF about 1969-71 I guess. a lang time sen. Did this ERF have a deep heavy chassis fit up for drawbar work like the one I ran in preservation?
Cheers Leyland 600
Hi Tidderson, This Albion Chieftain of Scottish BRS is rather unusual in having a Autolifts cab fitted which was a factory fitted cab in those days, however I dont remember seeing any fitted to BRS motors but did see lots of Albion chassis fitted with them being driven down through Carlisle from Scotstoun usually for export. They had a light wooden board wired across the radiator with the shipping marks stencilled on. ie, Accra, Takoradi, Lagos or Port Harcourt plus others that I cannot remember. West Africa was a good customer for Albion in those days.
Cheers, Leyland 600.
Firstly a BIG THANKS to those who are keeping the thread going (don’t stop , cracking pics from all
.
Secondly I’ve been able to recover most of my pictures, tho’ not in any folder order, which means stuff already posted is mixed up with that which hasn’t so will try some sort of date recognition. I was also able to recover deleted photos from my camera, about 300 odd.
For those interested the software I used was Recuva, it’s free and very good, much better than the first one I tried which crashed the system.
Anyway, kinda back in business again with some I have posted on flickr.
Cheers

Hi Gerald no the chassis was tapered up at the back axle I think it was sometimes called the Greyhound chassis mind she did’ny go like a greyhound but ah she did allright. Eddie.
Good to see you are having some success oily.

Hi Eddie, The reason I asked was I have an ERF sales brochure that shows a Knowles ERF complete with drawbar trailer which I thought might possibly be the same wagon, I must dig it out and post. Aye th ERF was bad to beat for fuel economy despite a bit o grey smoke on a winter morning, it didn,t knacker the planet when it got warmed up and ran on 2/3rds less fuel than todays supposedly green motors.
Cheers Leyland 600.

There was a haulier in Milnthorpe who ran one of those slim chassis ERF 4 wheelers but it was fitted with a Perkins engine and fitted with an extremely light flat it could legally carry nearly 11:5 tons.It spent its whole life running down to mainly Kent with Libby products from Milnthorpe and then reloading at Smedleys for their store in Bolton,I think it was.Unfortunately, this little ERF was involved in three major accidents,in the third one on the old A5 it was written off! Cheers Dennis.
Good on you bumper… Brill pictures .
Some from the City of York area and an Iveco with the rear end under strain.

Hi bumper, nice lot there.
The picture recovery, did not go all that well. I had backups on dvd discs and an external hdd and this is where an education through error kicks in, the discs (Clickfree Automatic Backup) were done up to late 2011 and on WindowsXP, I now find they are not compatible with Windows 7. I set up PhotoRecoveryPro, which was doing a really thorough job, showing images(transport, family, scenery etc.etc.) as they were being recovered, this type of recovery could be called ransom because, it will not release the images unless you cough up, anyway it didn’t get that far, crashing at about 29000 odd. I’m no expert, but reasonably well tuned in to workings of the PC and tried for a couple of days to get the system working again, finishing up with a complete re-install of Window 7. I tried another recovery program, which worked well but found out that when recovery takes place, it overwrites the files making them doubly difficult to do again, also the recovered files should be consigned to a different drive to which they are being recovered from. I have probably got back about 2000, there’s a bit o’ wrath, flack call it what you will coming in my direction with regard to loss of holiday photos etc, tin hat time
I also lost my collection of music, approx 7000 tracks which is on par with my love of lorries, luckily most had been downloaded to cd and dvd.
The most heartening aspect is the continued support of those whose consent I have for use of their transport photos for posting on here. It will all take a bit of sorting, slowly but surely I will get there.
Thanks again to all those who post here, it is your thread I just keep nudging it along.
Cheers
