Lawrence Dunbar:
Come on Dennis, Dans old Foden is still making him a few bob, Easy to maintain IMO, He dosnt have to look at a lap top to sort any problems out Thats If he gets any at all Its a good working vehicle, Plus its not as old as you & I is it, & we are still here , Take care & keep supping the wine , Regards Larry.
I think you have it Larry ,I can confirm that in one week in March the foden made a fair bit more money than I paid for it in 2013 ,mean while others are signing on the dotted line …
I love it as it is so versatile, so Dennis that means there are not many jobs Dan cant tackle with that outfit as you have seen by his posts, Buzzer

Dodge K Series 500, credit to Hefin Owen for the photo.
Perkins V8 in that Dodge signed as Pheasey’s, with my friends (owners late father who drove for Pheasey’s) old Nuffield tractor on the trailer. He used to haul a threshing set all around the Peak District with that Nuffield, on steep hills he used to hang a claw hammer on the governor to get more power! I asked him if there were queues of traffic behind him: “No idea, couldn’t see anything for all the black smoke?”

Pete.
You have reminded me of another experience i had with a K500, Pete. I was driving casual for Dixon’s of Derby and they had a subbie called Maurice (forget his surname for the moment). He ran a Commer tractor with a short tipper trailer and Oscar Dixon ‘subbed’ me to drive it for Maurice, I did that for some months and Maurice began to treat me as his driver. Maurice drove his only other motor himself, a K500 6 wheel tipper and decided at one point to have a holiday. He asked me to park up the Commer and drive the Dodge while he was away. All was well till I was hauling up a motorway hill when i was stopped by the police. I hadn’t seen them coming up behind me because of all the black smoke, and that was why I was stopped. There was no booking but I was told to park it up till the boss came back and sorted it. Oscar Dixon promptly put me back on one of his motors, a brand new F88, and when Maurice came back, refused to let me go. I stayed neutral in the row that followed but I was not too unhappy about driving an 88 instead of in a cloud that would have done a wartime destroyer credit.

Looks like a BRS motor off for a return load
Looking at that crank handle brings back memories of old style digs, early morning, a length of rope and a line of drivers starting all the motors to idle before breakfast.
