Come on Dennis, Dans old Foden is still making him a few bob, Easy to maintain IMO, He dosnt have to look at a lap top to sort any problems out Thats If he gets any at all Its a good working vehicle, Plus its not as old as you & I is it, & we are still here    , Take care & keep supping the wine , Regards Larry.

I think you have it Larry ,I can confirm that in one week in March the foden made a fair bit more money than I paid for it in 2013 ,mean while others are signing on the dotted line …

I love it as it is so versatile, so Dennis that means there are not many jobs Dan cant tackle with that outfit as you have seen by his posts, Buzzer

Well Buzzer a good thing is if a load gets sent back I don’t have to unload it but just swap bodies

Tbh I have jumped the que sometimes and tipped the body up but it does get a few going :open_mouth:

I bet you’d fancied driving something like this back in the day Oily

Can any one tell me what model the Dodge is?

K something or other, we had 2 at Shaw’s with Chrysler V6 engines. Made a hell of a clatter in a narrow street. Decent cab though.

Thanks for that Spardo

They let the hook loaders and tippers through where we go , the only sensible thing they do there

I thought they were ■■■■■■■ V6 and, as I recall, V8s. The V6 had a very distinctive and loud engine note. Slightly akin to the old Commer TS3 engine, you could hear them coming for miles!

I’m pretty sure that they were V6s, Dipster, and they were as loud, if not louder than the Commer, which I also drove at Shaw’s after the takeover by C.E.Dormer and new management by Cooper’s of Wednesbury.

I have a memory that I was told they were Chryslers, then years later that they were ■■■■■■■■ but I think I have more recently been told of the Chrysler connection.

Whatever they were, they made a horrible clattering sound as if everything inside was loose and rattling around. Fortunately, the engines were partially under, and to the rear of, the cab so weren’t so loud inside. We used to load asphalt blocks in Matlock and return to the yard via the steep Bath Street hill in Ilkeston and the reverberating noise was horrendous. No wonder it was later pedestrianised.

I think most of us old lads would have a hell of a job trying to get mounted on that.

My father was ■■■■■■■ mad, so that would fit in with the V6 ■■■■■■■■ I was 7 years old when he packed in running artics but late on he had a old dodge 6 wheel tipper and that was the most horrible engine I ever heard. We lived on a slight hill and it put your teeth on edge when it was coming home.

I just found that old photo which I haven’t seen for years and it brought back memories when I was a boy running down to felixstowe & Harwich docks.

I bet nobody ever hit a low bridge in one of those… Or if they did then they only did it once…

Quite probably the only week it worked in March :unamused: and as for revenue and earning more than it cost well multiply number of wheels (8) x £100 = £800 total earnings !
